Chapter 14 - Chapter 014: Invitation from the Student Council

The students of Advanced Nurturing come from all over the country."

Commander Horikita Manabu said deeply: "It's normal to have different tastes. Not taking care of all the students' feelings was indeed an oversight by the school."

Regarding life.

Advanced Nurturing was quite generous; basically, every request was met as long as one had enough points to satisfy most desires.

Hikigaya, however, looked over with some surprise.

How come it feels like the Commander and the blonde guy don't get along?

But then.

It's normal for the Number One and Number Two of the Student Council not to get along.

In-fighting within a small circle—he loved that the most.

Serves them right!

"Indeed."

Nagumo Miyabi spread his hands helplessly: "As expected of my respected Senior Horikita, able to frankly admit your own shortcomings."

Hey.

Don't give up, little blonde. As a villain, you should just go up and punch the Commander, right?

Hikigaya stoked the fire in his heart, wanting to see them fight.

"This is your other club application form."

Commander Horikita Manabu didn't care either, picking up another piece of material:

"The 'Wool-Pulling' (Exploitation) Club? Activities include table tennis, tennis, basketball, tea ceremony, calligraphy, flower arrangement, video games, literature, and other aspects—what does this mean?"

Even Tachibana Akane was speechless.

To want to pull the wool over the school's eyes so blatantly—doesn't he feel any shame? Might as well just call it the "Fleecing Club."

"It means exactly what it says."

Hikigaya said nonchalantly.

In fact, this was just his "discarded piece."

When the other party rejects one proposal, they are more likely to pass another out of embarrassment.

Pulling the wool didn't matter.

MAX Coffee and ramen were the top priorities.

"You really don't hide it."

Horikita Manabu pushed his glasses up: "Forget it, this application can be passed."

"Huh?"

"What, you look like you find it hard to believe?"

Horikita Manabu instantly saw through his thoughts and explained calmly:

"Whatever the reason, being able to think of this is a testament to your ability. Furthermore, it requires sacrificing your private time after school in exchange. In my eyes, this isn't exactly a profitable trade."

Sacrificing time spent with friends for a tiny bit of petty profit was clearly not worth it to most people. Here, the advantage of being a loner was apparent; he didn't care about such things at all. Besides, with Komachi gone, there was nothing to do back at the dorms. Staying at school or going back to the dorm made no difference to him.

"Furthermore," Horikita Manabu continued, "Clubs need to produce results every year. Sports clubs must maintain their records, and other clubs have their respective tasks." "If you only have the naive idea of taking advantage of the system, this path won't be a long-term solution."

As expected, there were no loopholes to exploit. After all, over the years, many people must have tried to fleece the school, only to fail in the end. Forget it; I'll just fleece what I can. In any case, the Commander didn't seem opposed to him taking advantage of the school; after all, it was the school's money and had nothing to do with the Commander.

"Therefore, you can choose another path." Horikita Manabu raised his hand and looked at the man in front of him. "Hikigaya, join the Student Council. You can earn additional personal points every month, which is much better than starting a club."

Damn it. So this is where he was leading me.

"Is it okay to tell me about the personal points directly?" Hikigaya asked listlessly. He didn't believe a man capable of becoming the Commander-in-Chief would be a fool; a slip of the tongue wouldn't happen to someone like him. Besides, who would want to be a corporate slave for this black-hearted Commander? In his dreams! Although he wanted to fleece the school to improve his life, this was just a "sacrificial pawn" plan; it didn't matter if it succeeded, as long as the MAX Coffee proposal went through!

"It doesn't matter," Horikita Manabu said dismissively. "This afternoon, Ichinose came to confirm matters regarding Class Points and Personal Points with us. I heard she got the answers from you." "Whether it's your piercingly accurate opinion piece or your sharp insight, you are undoubtedly qualified to join the Student Council." "Give up on starting a club and join the Student Council. What do you think?"

It seemed he had accidentally earned a high evaluation from the black-hearted Commander. This wasn't a good thing. Being targeted by a "black-hearted enterprise" meant being squeezed until you were dead.

"Hahaha," Hikigaya gave a dry laugh. "I refuse!" He wasn't falling for that.

"I see." Horikita Manabu nodded as he looked at his junior. "It seems I misunderstood before. Your goal wasn't money, but using that application as a sacrificial pawn so your previous suggestion would pass?"

"Uh..." Hikigaya choked. This black-hearted Commander was too powerful; he had seen through his thoughts so quickly. It was normal, though; if it wasn't for points, there could only be other reasons. Perhaps he was just testing him, but Hikigaya was more inclined to believe the black-hearted Commander had already guessed his plan.

"Fine," Horikita Manabu said calmly. "You can think over the matter of joining the Student Council. If you still want to establish a club, you need three official members. Submit the list to the Student Council before the end of April. You may leave."

"Excuse me!" Hikigaya turned and left without hesitation.

"Hikigaya!" Suddenly, the blonde-haired Nagumo Miyabi spoke up. "Don't you care if the suggestion passes?"

"That's true. What will happen to that suggestion?"

"The item about purchasing MAX Coffee will be approved. Just keep an eye on the school announcements later."

"Oh, I see. Thanks. I'll be going now." Hikigaya nodded and gave a mental victory sign as he turned to leave. It turned out his goal had been seen through by these people long ago. It was only natural. Students cannot lose MAX Coffee. Since he had shoved his goal right in their faces from the start, it would be weirder if they didn't notice.

"It looks like," Nagumo Miyabi teased with a smile after Hikigaya left, "whether it was the sacrificial plan or the final result, he knew the answer all along."

"But what is his reason for doing this?" Tachibana Akane asked, somewhat confused. After all, the guy hadn't shown the slightest bit of worry about the MAX Coffee matter the whole time. He was clearly certain the school would agree. It was just a few cases of drinks. Although the school was strictly managed, online shopping was allowed, so the school had no reason to refuse.

However, to go such a long way around to propose something that was bound to pass—was he sick? Why not just say it directly? Instead, he wrote a long, boring piece of nonsense full of references, nearly making her throat smoke from reading it.

"How should I know..." Nagumo Miyabi's lip twitched. This was the one thing they couldn't figure out. After a while, he said: "President Horikita, is this the person you've chosen?"

"You are free to think what you want." Horikita Manabu picked up another file and explained indifferently, "However, he does possess the qualifications and ability to enter the Student Council, but he can only be considered an exceptional talent (逸才)."

"True enough." Nagumo Miyabi nodded in agreement. After all, someone who could see through the school's rules on the first day could hardly be mediocre. But that was it. He was just bad at communication, and his personality seemed to have some issues. He didn't know who the guy had learned that roundabout habit from
