Chapter 77 - Chapter 77: Assault of the Iwagakure Ninja

Sunagakure's decision to take the initiative, marching across the Land of Rivers to threaten the Land of Fire had been a high-risk gamble, a strategy intended to fix the village's internal resource depletion. It had sent ripples through the Ninja World like a lone stone stirring a thousand waves, but those ripples had now returned as a crashing tide of "Malicious Code." Just as Elder Chiyo led Sunagakure's main force to smash through the Land of Rivers' firewall and squeeze Konoha's defense line, a disaster from the northwest poured like ice water into the Kazekage's office.

"Report! Level-5 Priority Intelligence! Iwagakure Jonin Kitsuchi has executed a 'Backdoor Bypass'! He leads an elite heavy-armor unit across the northern border and has breached our primary territory! Several border posts have already been deleted from our network, and the Rock Ninja are pushing into our heartland with zero delay!"

The messenger ninja, his breathing ragged and his uniform stained with the dark, oxidized blood of the front lines, presented the scroll with trembling hands.

Fourth Kazekage Rasa shot to his feet, his chair screeching against the stone floor like a short-circuiting motor. He snatched the scroll, and as his eyes parsed the data, his face darkened until it looked like scorched earth. He slammed a fist on the desk, the mahogany cracking under the pressure.

"Ōnoki… you old fox!" The words came through his teeth like grinding gears.

Rasa had believed a first strike into the Land of Rivers would shift the global conflict and let him "Farm" resources while Konoha was busy defending its own directories. Yet, Iwagakure's reaction had been swift and ruthless. They had executed a classic "The Feint of the Empty Heart" maneuver, striking straight at the heart of the Land of Wind while the village's main "Processors" were deployed hundreds of kilometers away. This was more than a tactical move; it was an open challenge to the "System Stability" of the new Kazekage.

He could not allow Iwagakure to rampage through the country; otherwise, the frontline's morale would suffer a total crash and the entire national strategy would crumble.

Rasa forced his mind to cool, his analytical circuits running at maximum capacity. The main army, led by Elder Chiyo, was too deep inside the Land of Rivers to be recalled. The village's garrison was a force of Genin and wounded veterans. He needed a "Security Patch", a commander strong enough to steady the troops and block a Kage-level threat like Kitsuchi.

His eyes swept the roster of available high-spec shinobi and locked on one name.

"Transmit the order at once! Appoint Pakura as the Overall Commander of the Northern Front. Integrate all remaining garrison forces and border guards. Use the desert's 'Natural Interference' to build layered, high-friction defenses. Drive the invaders back at any cost!" His voice was cold steel.

The command flashed out through the communication hawks. Pakura of the Scorch Release became Sunagakure's "Firewall." Without hesitation, she led a hastily assembled unit of "Experimental Scripts" and veterans into the endless northern dunes to meet Kitsuchi's Iwa elites. A brutal, heated showdown was about to begin.

Far away at the Land of Rivers front, Elder Chiyo also received the "System Alert" regarding the Iwa incursion. The wily veteran instantly grasped the global stakes.

"Rasa is under immense pressure… we must press harder here so Konoha cannot spare 'CPU cycles' for their own counter-attacks. If we squeeze the Fire Country hard enough, it may indirectly ease the load on our homeland," Chiyo said, her eyes sharp as she studied the tactical map. "Pass the order, accelerate the 'Clearance Routine'! Within three days, I want all organized resistance in the Land of Rivers removed. Then, the entire army will strike straight into the Land of Fire's core!"

She resolved to stop sparring in the buffer zones. Instead, she would storm into the Land of Fire and set the enemy's land ablaze, showing the whole world Suna's unyielding "Logic" and countering Iwagakure's thrust.

Sunagakure's army surged forward like a massive, automated grindstone. Konoha's border guards resisted fiercely, but under Chiyo's ruthless command and overwhelming numbers, they were steadily "De-allocated" from their positions.

Within this vast war machine, the Sandstorm Squad functioned like a nimble, high-speed cog, an elite mobile unit capable of "Surgical Injections."

At times, we were a "Stealth Dagger" in the enemy rear. We specialized in sabotaging supply lines and assassinating high-value commanders before they could initialize their defense. Captain Iryō's Wind Release was a razor-edged assault, Lucado's Earth Release provided a sturdy "Data Shield," and Shiori handled support and sensory reconnaissance with zero latency.

I, piloting the Mirage, roamed the skies like a phantom process. My 30-year-old soul, the mind of Logan, watched the battlefield through a lens of pure optimization. I used the Mirage's mobility to evacuate wounded units or "Air-Drop" strike teams into critical conflict zones.

We also served as the "Probe" for major assaults. I used my Magnet Release to scan the battlefield for hidden traps, my Iron Sand acting as a sensory net that identified enemy "Stealth Units" before they could trigger an ambush.

The war's cruelty was a brutal "System Update." It stripped away my last vestige of youthful innocence; my gaze became as resolute and cold as the alloys I machined. I saw the fragility of human life, how easily a "User" could be deleted and it only reinforced my drive for power.

In the northern desert, Pakura fused her terrifying Scorch Release, an evaporation script that bypassed standard biological cooling with the shifting sands to dance around Kitsuchi's heavy Rock army. She was a localized sun, turning Iwa's "High-Defense" units into mummified husks.

Inside the Land of Rivers, Chiyo's vanguard was already within sight of the Land of Fire's border wall. The "User Environment" was changing. The dry, yellow data of the desert was being replaced by the lush, green textures of the Fire Country.

Across the wider world-map, the "Global Conflict" was hitting peak activity:

Northeast: Kumogakure was locked in a speed-duel with the Yellow Flash.

Southeast: Hidden Mist's infiltration was being curved by Shisui - The Body Flicker.

Northwest: Iwagakure's main force was struggling against the Toad Sage Jiraiya.

The flames of the Third Great Ninja War had engulfed the entire continent. Riding the crest of Sunagakure's tide, the Sandstorm Squad crossed the invisible line between the Land of Rivers and the Land of Fire. We set foot on Fire Country soil, the heart of the Ninja World.

Awaiting us was Konoha's fiercest resistance, a "Hardened Firewall" of clans like the Uchiha and Hyūga. The real "Stress Test" was just beginning, and my Mirage was ready to be the "Zero-Day Exploit" that broke their line.
