Chapter 42 - Between Two Lives

She and Tasha were chatting just like they used to. Evie called out to them, but they didn't respond; it looked like they couldn't see or hear her. She moved closer, noticing the healed mark on her neck; the person there was her but not her.

"Anyway," Tasha said, "what is this obsession of yours to insist on being called 'Ela' instead of 'Evie' since you woke up from the coma?" Tasha asked.

"Nothing much, I just like it much better than 'Evie,'" she said, picking up the cup, sipping from it, and putting the cup down elegantly.

"I don't know why, but I feel your whole personality changed after the amnesia," Tasha said, "but I'm happy you are doing well, my dear," Tasha said, holding her hand.

Elara Ashborne did not die only to disappear; it looked like they had changed bodies. Looking at Tasha's happy face, Evie broke down in tears. She was so happy her friend would live without guilt.
