Evie put her hand in Reign's as the whole hall turned silent, all eyes drawn to them. He led her to the dance floor, and then they stood face to face as slow music started playing, and the emperor's hand reached for her waist as he pulled her close. "Don't be nervous. If you don't know how to dance, just follow my lead, and I will lead you well," he said. "And why would you assume I don't know how to dance?" she said, twirling and returning to his arms. "My apologies", he said, surprised at how well she was following his steps. "How did you learn to dance this well?" he asked. "I don't know", she responded curtly, shutting him down.
"I was caring for the sick empress", he said, putting his lip on her ear. "Well, I heard that. I hope she is better now," Evie said, shutting her eyes to ignore the feeling of his lips on her ear.
