Daniella's POV
I arranged my table, picked up my bag and hurriedly left the office in high spirits.
"Goodluck" my employees yelled.
I felt confident and I was determined to get the contract. Red line games&co ltd is a company I've dreamed of working with since I started my company. It's one the biggest game companies in the whole world. Partnering with them will help improve my financial situation. I wore a beautiful smile and walked gracefully into the building.
I was led by a man in his mid thirties to the briefing room where everyone was seated. I took a seat after a little introduction. I looked at my wristwatch, it was already 20 minutes past two, I was wondering why the meeting was being delayed.
"Uhmm, sorry, when is the meeting starting?" I turned to ask a young lady sitting beside me, with a smile that showed warmth and frustration.
"We will start in a few minutes, we just have to wait for our team leader to get here" she said to me politely.
I thanked her and started revising what I've written down to present, making corrections when needed. The door opened seven minutes later and the team leader walked in.
My eyes widened in shock, I subconsciously dropped my book, drawing attention to myself.
"I'm sorry" I apologized immediately, picking up my book.
"Miss Daniella, you may begin your briefing" the team leader said without looking at me.
I got so nervous that I dropped my book again on my way to the briefing board. My palms were sweating and I was in a state of shock and confusion.
My briefing went smoothly and I returned to my seat.
"Miss Daniella, that'll be all for today but we will definitely be in touch with you" The team leader said before dismissing everyone.
I was about to leave the room when he called me back.
"Miss Daniella, may I speak to you in private?" He asked in a tone I couldn't say "no" to.
I agreed and came back to my seat.
"What do you want from me Mr Gary? And how are you even working here? You're a team leader too? Wow" I said all at once.
"Calm down, one at a time" he said.
He told me this is his workspace and I should not mess things up for him. He said to keep personal and work life separate and I should please comply. I agreed because I also don't like bringing in personal matters to work and this is a job I've wanted for the longest so I can't mess this up for myself too.
On my way out of the company, I saw some of his coworkers talking. I did not mean to eavesdrop, but I heard what they were saying. Mr Gary needed to get the contract or he could lose his job. I came up with a plan.
I went home and waited for Mr. Gary to keep me updated, two hours later he called and told me to come to the Company for the final briefing the next day.
I got to the company the next day and I went to the briefing room immediately. I waited for everyone to come before we started the briefing. The briefing went smoothly again but before I could get the contract, I needed to have a meeting with the managing director.
Mr Gary asked me to come with him to see the managing director, but as we were about to leave the briefing room, I stopped him.
"I have an offer for you" I said to him in a calm, yet confident tone.
He looked at me and signaled me to continue.
"I'll sign the contract if you agree to sign my contract" I said.
"What contract? Are you trying to strike a deal with me?" He asked me with frustration lingering in his tone.
"Yes" I said.
I brought out a document from my bag. It was a contract. A contract he needed to sign for me to be able to sign the contract with his company.
"I'll sign the contract only if you agree to be my husband for a day. From what I heard without this contract, you could lose your title as team leader" I said to him, pulling out a pen and placing the contract in front of him.
"Fine, but if this comes back to boomerang, I won't sit still" he said, snatching the pen from me and signing the contract.
"I'll see you on Saturday" I said, taking my pen from him with a smile.
I walked closely behind him till we got to the managing directors office. The managing director was very intimidating, but he was calm in a way. I signed the contract, and I became an official partner of their company.
I went back to work after signing the contract to tell my employees about what just happened. They were all really happy, and we decided to throw a small party to celebrate becoming an official partner of one of the biggest companies in the world.
"Let's get pork" I said to my employees and soon we got into a restaurant.
"Ouuuu" they all said and ran towards a free table.
I've never felt this alive in a very long time. After the party, I called my mom and my younger sister to tell them about the good news. They were happy for me, but I was not as happy as they were because becoming partners with this company is something my ex-husband and I dreamt, but he's not here to celebrate it with me.
"Oh well, I need to get used to him being absent. I need to move on and be who I want to be without him" I muttered to myself.
I walked home quietly, staring at the sky and the road at intervals. My phone screen lit up and it began vibrating.
"Who could this possibly be? Can't I just have some time to myself?" I said under my breath with frustration.
I looked at my phone screen and I subconsciously dropped my phone.
"Why is he calling me?" I asked myself in confusion.
