Chapter 2 - 2

In the prison cell where Henry was being held captive, there were only four people: Rossie, Evan, Henry, and Joel. The last name belonged to Evan's trusted assistant. As night grew late, Rossie found herself torn between two choices, leaving her in a dilemma.

Evan and Rossie were still facing each other, the air felt thin for Rossie at that moment, her lips were wide open but no sound came out of her mouth.

Hearing Evan's words, of course, it shocked Rossie, she leaned back. Then her beautiful hazel eyes opened wide, as if she was still unconscious.

"What do you mean, sir? Are you joking, Mr. Evan...?" Rossie frowned.

"Marriage... children? It's so easy for you to say, but for me it's a very meaningful thing."

"I'M NOT JOKING!" Evan snapped angrily.

"I'm not forcing you... but you have to choose for yourself!" Evan said coldly.

"Well... So, I have to marry you and also have to bear your child?"

Rossie repeated the same question she had asked him earlier.

Evan gritted his teeth in anger.

"Don't answer my question with another question!"

"Hurry up and give me your answer. I don't have much time, or you'll let your father rot in prison and slowly no one will be able to help him!" Evan snapped sternly and arrogantly.

"If you're smart enough, you should choose to marry me and obey me. That would be much better for you," Evan chuckled with a slight smirk.

Both of them fell silent. Rossie tried to calm her turbulent heart. She wanted to slap that handsome but arrogant face, but her common sense was still functioning properly.

She couldn't be selfish at this moment; her father's safety was above all else. One wrong decision and her beloved father's life would be at stake.

After catching her breath, Rossie stared straight into Evan's dark gray eyes.

"All right, I am willing to agree to your terms, Mr. Evander, but I must first ensure that my father is well taken care of after you release him from prison."

Rossie said curtly as she raised her head, a harsh breath escaping her red lips.

Rossie didn't want to feel like the loser here. She still had her pride, even though after she got married, that pride would soon disappear, torn apart by Evander's dominant personality.

"Tsk... are you doubting my words? Don't worry, I will keep my promise."

"You're putting on an act, miss, but it's okay. After we get married, you will regret always fighting me."

Evan snorted in annoyance, but the more Rossie resisted him, the more his lust arose, a subtle thrill creeping into his heart.

The arrogant man wanted to conquer Rossie immediately, an ambitious and dangerous obsession.

Evan was not used to being opposed, let alone argued with, especially by someone like Rossie, who was a nobody.

Evan turned to Joel, his assistant, and signaled for him to come closer.

"Give her the agreement you brought earlier, tell her to sign it quickly!"

Joel quickly responded to his boss's words and handed Rossie a large brown envelope.

As she was about to open the envelope, Evan spoke flatly.

"Wait a minute, I have one question for you, just to be sure."

Rossie's fingers, which were about to open the envelope, stopped.

"What else?"

"Are you still a virgin?"

Evan looked calm and normal when he asked the question. But Rossie felt very humiliated, she wanted to strangle the man and cancel her intention.

However, Rossie restrained herself, of course. The girl had to think more about her father's condition, who was now languishing in prison.

Moreover, the middle-aged man was often sick.

"What do you mean by that question?!"

"So if I say I'm not a virgin anymore , is that a problem for you?"

Rossie spoke with her fists clenched, her face red with emotion.

"No... I have no problem with that. All I need is a healthy womb to carry my fertile seed," Evan replied coldly.

"Later, you will have to undergo a series of tests. I want my child to grow in a good womb."

"You must get pregnant with my child."

Once again, Evan's words were piercing, hurting Rossie's heart without drawing blood.

She now felt no different from the prostitutes on the streets selling themselves.

"I'm still a virgin, you can rest assured, I'm not a woman who has been with many men!"

Rossie replied sarcastically, then took a piece of paper out of the envelope and began to read its contents.

After finishing reading the entire text, Rossie began signing the marriage contract between Evan and herself.

Hearing Rossie describe her virginity made Evan grin.

"Hmm... all right, you naughty girl, I'll prove your words later... very soon," replied Evan with a slight smile.

Flashback to two weeks ago

Henry was ready to go to work as a horse stable cleaner at Evan's residence, but suddenly his head felt dizzy and his heart was pounding.

The middle-aged man sat down and leaned back in a worn wooden chair, holding his head.

Rossie, who was walking out of her room to go to her odd job at a cake shop, stopped in her tracks.

Rossie hurriedly approached her father with a worried look on her face.

"Dad... Dad... what's wrong? Are you in pain?"

Rossie asked with concern.

"Hmm... yes, Rossie, I don't feel well and my head is spinning."

"Then you shouldn't go to work. Just rest at home," said Rossie worriedly.

"But... last week I already missed work twice. It doesn't feel right to keep taking time off," Henry refused, trying to stand up.

Then his frail body suddenly swayed and the man sat back down weakly.

"Dad... don't push yourself. Let's just rest in your room and lie down, but first I'll make you some porridge and prepare some headache medicine."

"But Ros... Dad has a lot of work to do at Mr. Evan's residence right now," Henry said softly.

"Look, Dad, let me take over your duties there while you're sick, so you don't have to worry about it anymore."

Henry gave a small nod with a tired face, and the middle-aged man finally agreed to his daughter's suggestion.

Rossie had now arrived at the Evander residence, her footsteps swinging... her destination was the large field behind the mansion where the horse farm was located.

After introducing herself as Mr. Henry's daughter, Rossie was welcomed in and invited to start working.

"Are you sure you can do the job, kid?" asked one of the workers, seeing that Rossie was a woman.

"I'll do my best," Rossie replied briefly.

Rossie entered the horse stable carrying cleaning equipment. Standing tall, she swept up and tied her brown hair high, exposing her smooth, white neck.

Rossie wore tight long jeans and a short T-shirt in a casual style, making her look very beautiful and also very young with her fresh, glowing face.

Deftly and skillfully, her arms moved nimbly as she began to brush, scrub, and wipe away the dirt on the walls, floor, and other places.

Sweat dripped down her beautiful face, showing how hard she was working.

When the sun was high in the sky, everyone took a break for lunch, including Rossie.

After about an hour of rest to regain her energy, Rossie got up from her seat and stretched her muscles, ready to resume her activities.

"Rossie..."

A middle-aged woman hurried over.

"What is it, Mrs. Lidya?" Rossie turned to the source of the voice.

"Excuse me, Rossie, can you help me for a moment? Please deliver this cup of coffee to Mr. Ray. Eva was supposed to do it, but she suddenly sprained her ankle and can't walk properly."

The woman explained at length, hoping that Bunga would agree.

Rossie stared intently at the head waitress, whom she had met during the break.

"Okay, ma'am, I'll take it to him. Please show me where I can find him," said Rossie softly.

"Come here, dear. Mr. Evan is sitting and reading on the front porch of the wooden house over there."

Nodding, Rossie understood what she had to do. So the beautiful girl hurriedly carried a tray with a cup of coffee for Evan.

Evan had no activities today; he chose to relax and read.

Rossie was now in front of Evan's table, but the man, who was still sitting and reading, did not notice Rossie's presence.

"Excuse me, sir... this is your coffee. The head waiter asked me to bring it to you."

Evan looked up and raised one eyebrow.

"What?!"

"You don't know who I am... or my name?!"

Evan asked coldly, annoyed that a waitress didn't even know his name.
