Chapter 6 - Chapter 6 — Bound By Blood And Silence

Aira and Diamond stood at the staircase that led to the school field.

"Diamond, how come you've not asked me what makes me happy" Aira said folding her hands.

"I think it's because we've never really had time to talk." He responded with a smile.

"What makes you happy?" He asked

"Hope you won't laugh at me if l tell you?" Aira replied in smile.

"No l won't " He responded.

"Ice cream makes me happy" Aira said.

"Hi Aira" Georgina her friend said shaking her when she was passing by.

"Hi" Aira replied shaking her as well.

As she shook hands with Georgina, Aira saw something strange—something bad was about to happen. If she doesn't act immediately, Georgina would get hurt or even die.

As Georgina left. Aira ran after her to save her from the unforseen incident which Aira already saw. Ivana ran calling out to Aira as well. "Aira. Aira" she called out but Aira was on the verge of either loosing her friend— Georgina or saving her. She mustn't let her hurt.

As Georgina stepped down, Aira dragged her to the side and just then a part of the building's roof fell with heavy blocks which could have led to her death.

They were all shocked. Ivana knew Aira had the power of a seer. She could see things that are yet to happen.

Aira sat at a corner of the school compound during break period. She was reflecting on all that had been happening in the school lately.

"How did you know?" Ivana said as she approached her, her school bag hung at her back.

"How did l know what?" Aira said facing up in pretence.

"How did you know that, was going to happen?" Ivana asked

"I was just overwhelmed with things... Like... If l explain to you, you won't understand, so don't worry okay." Aira added.

"Try me" Ivana said as she sat down.

"Like, you mean you really want to know?" Aira asked with a surprised face.

"Yes." Ivana added.

"I was upstairs conversing with a friend, then she passed, greeted me and shook me. When we were holding hands, l saw these flashes in my head. I saw something was going to happen in the future. I know it might seem strange and you won't believe me." She narrated.

"I believe you. And l think what you did right there was great." Ivana gave her a shocking response.

"You believe me for real?" Aira asked. She was shock and surprised at her response.

"Okay, I'll tell you the whole story." Aira started.

Ivana adjusted to listen to what she had to say clearly.

"It all started when l was playing with my friends at the field. I tried dribbling a friend but l fell and hit my head on the ground. Since then, everything changed and I've been seeing a whole lot of things." She added.

"Everything seemed so strange and upsidedown. What if l told you that, the other day, l saw something enter George then the next day we heard he raped someone. This is so unlike George. He can't do this kind of thing. We know him to be a nerd. He's just too nerdy to do that kind of thing." She narrated in sadness, her face and body full of anxiousness.

"You know Ella?" She continued. "We all know her to be a very crazy person. She talks to herself. She doesn't associate with people. What if l told you that, she has been seeing Charlie—her dead boyfriend... She has been talking to Charlie... I don't know if you believe me right now. Like I've been seeing..." As she was standing and narrating she bumped into a fellow student and immediately saw something in her.

"Are you blind?" The student asked turning back.

"I'm so sorry sister." Aira pleaded.

"Excuse me please?" Aira called at her

"What ?" The student responded going her way.

"Did you see that?" Aira asked Ivana

"See what?" Ivana asked in ignorance.

"Like you didn't see that sign on her forehead?" She asked Ivana.

"No. I didn't " Ivana responded in nod of disapproval.

"Come, come. Let's go after her. Please come." Aira said dragging her hands while they chased after the student.

The white witches were having their meeting at a secret corner of the school.

"Sacred order of blood sisters. Bound by blood, now and eternal." They chorused with their two palms open, their shoulders high and their face up and straight.

Nya—the leader of the crew appeared.

"Are these the new witches?" She asked Anna pointing at the two new students who had joined their crew.

"Yes" Anna replied.

"What of Imani?" Nya asked without patient.

"She's on a mission, sister." Kiora Arden replied with a bow.

"Okay. Let's continue." Nya said.

Aira and Ivana were peeping from a corner they hid.

Kiora stretched her hands, made some incantations. A small fetish pot—padded with herbal leaves laid on her hands.

Nya took a sharp small knife and gave a cut on her palms. She let the blood into the pot. Kiora followed suit. Anna did same. They gave it to the new witches to drink. The drank it and gave it back to Kiora.

"Welcome to the paradise of darkeness that torments every elements of light." Nya began her speech. Her face firm with no trace of tenderness in her voice.

"In here, we believe every witch deserves to fly. To be true and to be dark and that's why l give you a chance." She added.

She took a short breath. Looked sideways slightly and continued. "Henceforth, my words are binding... They compel and subject you to me biding, for therein lies my protection." She looked side ways and continued "And my fervour." She added letting a cunning smile at them.

"Thank you sister." The new witches greeted in bowing heads.

Just then, as Nya was about to speak. She had a sharp feeling of someone watching them which made her mind skip.

"I can sense the presence of someone. Someone is watching us." She lamented in anger

Aira and Ivana knew it was them the referred to. They quickly moved back and left the area.

"Where, sister?" They asked looking around.

(Incantations) Nya stretched her hands.

"Go!! Find that person and bring him to me." She ordered.

Two of her girls left in search of the person.

"We need to get out of here." Aira said in a low and scared tone.

"Wait. They will outrun us." Ivana added.

"What should we do?" Aira added with fear.

Ivana clapped her hands and they were covered by a shadow. No human could see them there at the moment—even if they were there.

"They are supposed to be here." Anna told Kiora as they approached the point where Aira and Ivana hid.

"What just happened?" Kiora asked in shock.

"They were two, and they weren't humans." Anna added in total sureness.

"What do we do?" Kiora asked in disappointment. "I think they saw us and could report us to the council of elders." She added.

"Sister, you don't need to be scared. There's no one to catch us. So l tell you, let's catch them and eliminate them." Anna assured her.

"You're right. Let's go." Kiora replied and they left in search of the eavesdroppers.

The next day at the applied art project class. The students were working on their projects and group works. The weather was chill with noises of birds hovering the sky and waves of wind pushing the trees.

"Ivana. Ivana... Please focus." Aira called on Ivana—who was busy. She seemed to be searching for something in her bag.

"I've been thinking about the whole thing. Please tell me, who you really are." Aira asked in curiousity.

Ivana gave her a tiring look. "I don't think this is the best place to have this conversation." Ivana said in hesitation.

"Just tell me. Tell me please." Aira persuaded her with a plead.

"Okay. I first discovered l was a witch when l was twelve. Though my granny said I've been earlier than that. Yes! I've been a witch since I was five." She whispered.

She took a slow and steadying breath then continued with a chilling smile.

"And she has been teaching me the way of witches. Even though she isn't a witch herself." She added

"Hold on. Your granny's not a witch?" Aira asked

"No" Ivana replied shrugging her shoulders.

"Wow. That's so interesting. So all these I've been saying about seeing things, you know about..." Aira said but Ivana interrupted.

"I believed you." Ivana said as she looked back to be sure no one was listening to their conversation.

"But you know our ways are secret from humans. I needed to be sure." She said resting the right side of her hair on her right shoulder.

"Lest l forget. Did you inherit your powers too?" She asked Aira with an opened eye.

"No. I'm not sure. None of my parents has discussed this with me before. So it's just complicated. Or what do you think?" Aira responded in a confused state.

Ivana looked at her. Her face was full of anxiousness. She wasn't too sure of what it means. "I don't know... I don't really know but l feel like your power are like that of a seer." She added
