Hiro watched Mina run away, his lips curved into a grin. Part of the reason was due to how cute her reaction was. And another…is because of something he had just discovered.
He looked down at his left hand, his eyes flickering. During his contact with the bare skin on the back of her knees, he noticed something odd.
He felt that…if he wanted to, he could modify that part of her body- albeit to a limited extent.
Before this, his Biokinesis only worked on himself. He had tried training for a year, using criminals and monsters in the world of One Punch Man to determine whether he could affect them. However, the only result of that was an increase in his ability to perceive the body parts of others.
But now, in addition to being able to better observe the body, it seems he could change parts of it if he wants.
Was it because his Quirk awakened in response to Shinso trying to control his body? Did it mutate in a similar direction so he could also control others?
Hiro wasn't sure. However, the possibilities this gave him was massive.
For one, he can now pass off as a healer.
In any world, healers are a noble profession. By being able to become one, not only could he easily gain more privilege, but in addition, this would help facilitate his collection of genes.
Another thing he could do with this was the creation of biological creatures. Once he becomes proficient enough, he could even follow All For One's path and create a Nomu with multiple Quirks.
And in his case, he wouldn't be limited by having one Quirk at a time. As long as he was familiar with how to create the Quirk Factor and has the needed genes, he could create an army of Nomu's all with a teleportation Quirk like Kurogiri's.
The battlefield filled with black smoke, a massive legion of different creatures that could each teleport surrounding his enemy. Thinking about that scene, Hiro trembled in excitement.
He now felt a pang of regret for killing Kurogiri. As far as he knew, his Quirk was the only one with teleportation capabilities in this world, except for the mud thing used by AFO.
Oh well, Hiro mused. There's no need to get hung up over it. He had no idea that his Quirk would gain a second awakening so early. Besides, 80% of the population in this world have Quirks. If he thoroughly searched, he was sure he'd be able to find something similar.
Right now though, his main focus was to master his newly reawakened Quirk. Everything else after comes second.
Hiro perked up as a rush of footsteps approached from the front. A group of UA robots rushed over with a stretcher, carrying an unconscious Midoriya.
The seaweed-haired teenager's left and right arm were banged up. Each of his fingers also looked worse for wear, proving just how much effort he gave in the previous fight.
Unfortunately, according to the announcement Hiro heard, Todoroki still won the fight.
Hiro helplessly shook his head. In his view, Todoroki who only uses his Ice part of the Quirk should have less chances against Midoriya. It was just a pity that the Midoriya faced worse opponents in previous rounds.
Especially against Kirishima. His Hardening Quirk needed Midoriya to sacrifice one of his arms to win. Along with the stamina drain after being healed by Recovery Girl, it was even a wonder how he fought Todoroki for so long.
As Hiro was wondering how his newfound healing ability would compare against Recovery Girl, Present Mic's voice sounded from the speakers.
"The 2nd match of the semi finals between Hiro Ryugamine and Mina Ashido would have to be- hmm? What's that?"
Present Mic's voice trailed off, as if he was talking to somebody. Then, he coughed and continued.
"Folks! Due to personal issues, Mina Ashido has chosen to forfeit the next match! Therefore, student Hiro Ryugamine has advanced to the finals and will face off against Shoto Todoroki!"
The audience murmured in confusion at Mina's sudden surrender. However, when they heard about Todoroki and Hiro's match next, they forgot about all that and began to cheer.
In this competition, Hiro, Izuku, and Shoto were shown to possess the most overwhelming aspect in terms of speed, strength, and firepower, respectively.
Midoriya and Todoroki's fight already made them cling to the edge of their seats- especially the final clash that shook the whole arena. They couldn't wait to see just how much more epic the battle between Hiro and the icefire boy would be.
There was a 20 minute break before the finals. It was given for Todoroki to have a chance to rest; as well as to repair the arena that had been shattered from the collision between him and Midoriya.
During this period, Hiro headed for the infirmary to visit Midoriya. Except for Todoroki and Bakugo, the other members of class 1A gathered there as well.
Everyone was more or less concerned about the injury Izuku received. Only after getting a positive response from Recovery Girl did they let their worries rest.
Because of their large number, they only had time to stay for a while before being shooed away by the old lady.
"Man, I'm glad Midoriya is alright. That fight- it was something else! I realized how lucky I was that he didn't directly hit me with something like that last punch during our match. Even with my full effort, I don't think I could tank that."
Kirishima said, his tone containing a mixture of relief and regret. As a hero who vowed to do his best in protecting others, that was unacceptable. After this, he swore to step up his training.
"Really really? It's too bad I couldn't watch it, then. That last explosion- I bet it was spectacular!"
"Mina-chan, couldn't you have watched the battle from the halls?"
Asui asked, her head tilted slightly to the side.
"Ehehe, I had been thinking about my upcoming match with Hiro- about whether I should just surrender or not. Yeah. That's why I missed it."
Mina avoided Hiro's amused gaze as she said so. The others didn't find any problems with her excuse, though they did express their confusion regarding her surrender. Mina gave the same reason she told Hiro, which was to prepare for the third place match- though whether one would still be held after Midoriya's injury was uncertain.
After that, they walked together for a few more minutes and chatted before Hiro parted ways with them to head to the preparation hall. Everyone gave him their well wishes, though none of them really looked worried.
Even after what Todoroki showed in the last match, none of them believed Hiro would lose.
Hiro casually thanked them. There was still 5 minutes left for the break time, so he leisurely walked to the prep area. On the way, however, a tall and muscular figure blocked his path.
"Hiro Ryugamine, I've been waiting for a while. Let's talk."
"Oh? Please make it quick. Or does Japan's second ranked hero want to delay his son's opponent to help him win the tournament?"
The burly figure, Endeavor, frowned. He stepped forward, gazing at Hiro with a piercing look in his eyes as he stood over the young teenager.
"Do not overestimate your status just because you currently stand above the others. My boy, Shoto, as long as he accepts his left side, he'd easily surpass you."
"Is that so? Why won't he use it then?"
Hiro curiously asked, showing no signs of being intimidated by the pro hero at all.
Endeavor's frown deepened. He met Hiro's inquiring gaze and tried to break his false bravado. However, the white haired teenager remained thoroughly unfazed.
"…he's just undergoing a rebellious phase. Sooner or later, he'll realize how foolish and stubborn he's been."
"Is that right? Here's to hoping he'll realize it sooner then. Now, if you'll excuse me…"
"Hold on!"
Hiro had just stepped past Endeavor when he was grabbed by the pro hero on the shoulder. He frowned, and slapped away the offending hand.
"What is it? If you want to say something, then hurry up. I have better things to do."
"You!"
Endeavor clenched his fist, his eyes smoldering. However, considering the current situation and the ramifications on his Hero career if he attacked, he held himself back.
He took a deep breath, then said.
"I only came here to tell you- give it your all. Shoto has a duty to surpass All Might. Show him how powerless he is- and how far he is from reaching that goal if he keeps his current attitude."
Hiro walked away, not even bothered to give a response.
Treating his own children as tools, neglecting and abusing his own family- Hiro had no good impression of the fiery pro hero. Scum like that should have been arrested early on and prevented from inflicting years of trauma on their children.
Hiro sighed, and resumed his usual expression.
Whatever. It has nothing to do with him. In the multiverse, there are infinite numbers of families that suffer even a worse fate than the Todoroki household.
Unless he wants to spend his equally infinite life trying to solve that problem, then the best he can do is ensure it wouldn't happen to his own family.
"Wassup folks! Are you ready for the final match!?!!"
Just then, Present Mic's loud voice awakened Hiro from his contemplation.
