Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Private Plane Chaos-- Jay Jay and team POV

The private hangar smelled faintly of fuel and ambition. Eli had assigned seats, made a flight plan, and ensured we all had what we needed—but naturally, that didn't prevent chaos.

Chloe poked Sebastian in the side. "Bet you can't sit still for the entire flight."

Seb snorted. "Challenge accepted. You're going down in seat 12C."

Mateo groaned. "This is how the world ends. Not wars. Not disasters. But Seb doing chair cartwheels mid-air."

I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Focus, please. We're leaving for London in two hours, and someone—" I glanced at Seb again "—will probably try to juggle carry-on bags for a stunt."

"Just warming up," he said with mock dignity.

Chloe nudged me. "You okay, Jay?"

I hesitated. My chest still felt tight when I thought of Kiefer. Still felt the echo of the words he had thrown, the plan he had hidden.

"Yes," I said. And smiled faintly. "Just… making sure everyone packs their dignity before takeoff."

Mateo snorted. "I packed mine. You? Seb?"

"Lost mine under the seat," Seb said dramatically.

Eli finally clapped her hands. "Enough. Boarding. Everyone behaves like… normal billionaires. Or at least, like people who know what they're doing."

I rolled my eyes, but I felt lighter than I had in weeks. Small, ridiculous jokes. Normal moments.

Keifer's POV boarding the plane

I stepped onto my plane quietly, no dramatic announcements. The crew had been briefed. The jet was a private fortress of steel and silence.

And yet, as I settled into my seat, I couldn't stop thinking about Jay Jay. About her voice. About the way she didn't glance my way today. About the near slip she almost had in class.

I clenched my jaw. I wouldn't reach out. I couldn't. Not until the danger passed. Until the Watsons weren't a threat.

I pulled the secure flight plan out of my briefcase, double-checked coordinates, timelines, escape contingencies. And then, just before closing my eyes for a brief rest, I muttered to myself:

If she hates me, she's safe.

But even as I said it, a part of me wanted to tell her… just once…

No. Not yet.

Cabin Antics -- Jay Jay and team POV

The flight was uneventful… until Mateo accidentally kicked Seb's foot while reaching for his bag.

"Ow!" Seb shouted. "Traitor!"

"I was saving the bag from your clumsy hands!" Mateo retorted.

Chloe laughed so hard she almost snorted. I shook my head.

"This is going to be a long two weeks," I muttered.

"Two weeks?" Seb said, pretending to be horrified. "You mean the world will exist without me doing heroic jet antics for fourteen days?"

"Yes," I said, deadpan. "The world will survive somehow."

Leo snorted and leaned back. "If it doesn't, blame Seb."

Even Eli cracked a faint smile.

I allowed myself to laugh softly, thinking: if this was the only part of life I could control,

I'd take it. Tiny moments of absurdity. A world that still laughed in the face of chaos.

And yet, in the back of my mind, Kiefer's name hovered. London was waiting. Threats were waiting. The Watsons were waiting.

But for now…

Just for a little while, my friends were enough.
