DAY14, after work.
Ten minutes before X headed to the Training Department — Security Department.
"Miss Angela! Netzach is causing trouble again!"
A blonde girl X had never seen before was standing in front of Angela, shouting.
"What did Netzach do this time?"
Angela kept her eyes closed as usual when speaking to anyone other than X .
"She just handed me the joint drill report — but it was due yesterday!"
The blonde girl, clearly a Sephirah herself, frowned deeply as she continued,
"And I've looked everywhere and can't find her! I'm certain she's drunk somewhere again — completely wasted!"
"The Upper Sephirah know where she is. You can ask them."
Angela replied calmly.
"But I don't want to talk to them!"
The blonde girl clearly held strong opinions about the Upper Sephirah. Just hearing that suggestion worsened her already sour mood.
"…Miss Angela, I really think Netzach isn't fit to be a Sephirah at all. She's nothing but flaws."
"What exactly are you trying to say, Tiphereth?"
Angela's tone remained strictly professional.
"…I'm proposing that Netzach be replaced."
"Tiphereth, replacing a position is not meant to remove Sephirah you personally dislike from your sight."
"How is this about personal preference?"
Tiphereth protested, confused.
"If it were, I'd have replaced every Sephirah except a few of them already!"
"Replacement is only permitted when a Sephirah is deemed to have severe defects and can no longer fulfill their role."
"Isn't that exactly Netzach's situation?"
Tiphereth grew even more puzzled.
"She can't even perform her role properly—"
"Netzach is performing her role properly."
Angela explained patiently.
"Being addicted to Enkephalin, mentally foggy, lethargic, and weak — all of that is part of her role."
"There's something else you should consider, Tiphereth."
Angela continued in the same matter-of-fact tone.
"Even if we replaced Netzach, do you truly believe the new Netzach would be a diligent and responsible Sephirah?"
"..."
Tiphereth fell silent.
"So please do not discuss replacement so lightly."
Angela turned and left.
"I understand how you feel, but Netzach is a uniquely troublesome case."
"…Tiphereth, my head is killing me."
After Angela left, Netzach — clutching her head and looking like she'd just woken up from a hangover — walked into her office.
"Do you have to yell that loudly?"
"I already proposed your replacement to Angela!"
Tiphereth turned toward her colleague.
Judging from her expression , she looked a bit like a child who'd just tattled to a teacher.
"That means your careless behavior is coming to an end!"
"I know you want to see me panic and back down under threat."
Netzach shrugged, completely unfazed.
"But sorry — you won't get that satisfaction."
"Replacement? That's exactly what I want, Tiphereth. Didn't you know?"
"..."
Threats mean nothing to someone who isn't afraid of losing everything.
Tiphereth knew this well, so she fell silent again.
"…When you finally get smashed into pieces, let's see if you can still say that."
After throwing out that final threat, the blonde girl — even smaller than Hod — stormed off in a foul mood.
"Psh…"
Netzach clicked her tongue indifferently — and then locked eyes with someone who had apparently been standing there watching for quite some time.
"..."
"..."
That was what X had witnessed that day.
Central Command
When X stepped into this new department, he finally understood what Angela meant by "cornerstone" and "bridge."
This place was broader and brighter than any department he had seen before.
The ceiling soared incredibly high. The golden walls and floors were spotless, reflecting soft, even light that left not a single shadow in sight.
"Hi there! I'm Tiphereth!"
"Good day. I'm also Tiphereth."
Two girls spoke almost simultaneously, introducing themselves to X in completely different tones.
One was lively, with long hair.
The other was calm and gentle, with short hair.
This was what X now saw.
"You're… both called Tiphereth?"
X crouched down slightly, trying to bring himself to eye level with the two girls — children, at least from his perspective.
"Of course. Can't you tell? We're twins, so our names are the same."
The long-haired Tiphereth smiled brightly, her voice crisp and cheerful.
She looked completely different from the girl who had loudly scolded Netzach the first time X met her.
"But if you're asking whether we're biological twins by definition — then no, we aren't."
The short-haired Tiphereth continued calmly.
"So there's really no point in distinguishing between us~"
The long-haired one concluded playfully, winking her right eye.
"Wait… wait, hold on. You're making my head spin."
X rubbed his temples and waved his hand helplessly.
"Alright — Ti… phereth."
He looked at the cheerful long-haired girl.
"Uh… I'll call you Tiphereth A. TA for short. How does that sound?"
Then he turned to the quiet short-haired girl.
"And you'll be Tiphereth B. TB."
"I literally just said distinguishing us is meaningless."
TA's smile faded slightly, her brow furrowing.
"And you're still insisting on doing something so pointless, Manager?"
"If your names are the same, then distinguishing you is meaningful."
X didn't back down. Instead, he explained patiently with a smile.
"This is a large department. You both know how important efficiency is — I don't really need to spell that out, do I?"
"You're absolutely right."
This time, TB spoke first, smiling gently in agreement.
"…Fine. You have a point."
Seeing her partner agree, TA reluctantly conceded.
"Then that settles it."
"Welcome to the Central Command, Manager."
