"Someone… come…"
Hiruzen Sarutobi's body trembled violently.
His voice was hoarse and dry. Though it was only a dozen short words, it felt as if they had drained every last bit of strength from him.
Clatter.
Very soon, the Hokage's secretary worked together with others to retrieve a metal cabinet from the ruins.
Despite being blown away by the shockwave, its exterior had miraculously remained intact.
"Third Hokage, you're quite sensible."
Jin nodded, but did not move.
Behind him, Fugaku immediately understood.
With a step, he vanished in a flash and reappeared beside the metal cabinet. After taking the key, he opened it directly.
Clatter.
From within, he quickly removed a thick stack of account ledgers, several ancient-looking seals, and—
a scroll flickering with sealing runes.
After giving them a brief inspection, he carried the items over and stood behind Jin.
"They're genuine."
"Mhm."
Jin didn't even look. He simply nodded again, then calmly turned his gaze toward the many clan heads behind him and said softly,
"Hyuga Clan Head."
Hearing his name so suddenly, Hyuga Hiashi's heart tightened.
Still, he immediately stepped forward. "Jin-kun."
"Trouble you—and the Nara Clan Head, Akimichi Clan Head, Yamanaka Clan Head as well…"
Jin's eyes slowly swept over the most influential clan leaders.
"Serve as witnesses together."
"From this moment onward, Konoha's financial authority—will be taken over by the Uchiha clan."
"The accounts, seals, and keys—have been fully transferred."
The words were few and plain, yet his tone carried an irresistible pressure.
The clan heads who had been named all felt an invisible weight bearing down on them.
Even Nara Shikaku, a staunch supporter of the Third Hokage, could only exchange glances with the others before silently nodding in the end.
At this moment, opposition had lost all meaning—it would only invite destruction.
Even the Third Hokage had complied. What could they possibly do?
Replace the Third Hokage themselves?
The Uchiha clan was already unstoppable.
"Very well… very well…"
Hyuga Hiashi took a deep breath and answered on behalf of the assembled clan heads.
After that, Fugaku solemnly put away the items in his hands.
The dust had settled.
From this night onward—
Konoha's sky had completely changed.
Jin's gaze once again leapt across space, landing on the Third Hokage.
"Third Hokage."
He raised the corner of his lips slightly, his voice tinged with amusement.
"It's late. Old people should go to bed early."
Old people!
When Hiruzen Sarutobi heard those words, he felt a surge of blood rush to his throat, his vision darkening.
Just as he was about to collapse, an ANBU beside him caught him in time.
He struggled to draw a breath, looking at that small figure, at the seals and scroll in Fugaku's hands symbolizing Konoha's lifeline, at the complicated yet awed expressions of the various clan heads around him—
and at Guy's silent remains in the deep crater…
The desolation in his heart deepened into deathly stillness.
His back bent even further.
Yet under Jin's oppressive gaze, he could only turn and leave—
retreating from the stage, back toward his clan.
…
Whoosh—
A gentle breeze passed through, leaves rustling.
It brought a trace of coolness to the hundreds of people present.
The night grew deeper.
But—
Konoha Village's clamor did not cease with the silence of the Hokage Tower.
Instead, it grew even busier.
Lights blazed within every major clan compound. Emergency meetings followed one after another.
Everything that had happened tonight was like a thunderclap exploding in everyone's hearts.
And it left every clan running themselves ragged.
The Uchiha compound.
Brilliantly lit!
Yet the atmosphere was completely different from before.
No longer filled with grief and oppression, it was now charged with the exhilaration of surviving a great calamity—of standing tall at last.
Whenever their eyes fell upon that small figure, they were filled with fervent reverence.
Inside the council hall, Fugaku sat in the main seat, his expression complicated.
For the first time, he even began to doubt his own eyes.
Who could have imagined that the ominous signs of clan annihilation from just yesterday would be completely overturned?
The clan wasn't destroyed!
Instead, a large portion of Konoha's rotten upper echelons had been wiped out!
Beside him sat the Second Elder, the Fourth Elder, and other core figures.
Meanwhile, Jin sat casually by the window, toying with the small "sun" in his hand.
In truth, he wanted to go to sleep even more.
What he had said to the Third Hokage earlier was genuine.
Staying up late—
really wasn't good.
"The financial authority has been preliminarily secured."
After a moment, Fugaku withdrew his gaze from Jin and looked down at the account books before him, his expression heavy.
"But… the deficit is considerable, and the accounts are extremely chaotic. If we investigate deeply, it could trigger major unrest."
"Tonight's commotion was too great. The village is unsettled, and all the clans are watching."
"If this money bag isn't handled properly, it may become a target of public criticism."
Everyone's eyes, without prior agreement, turned toward the figure by the window playing with the ball.
Seeing this, Jin paused.
"Simple."
His voice wasn't loud, but it rang clearly in everyone's ears.
"First, compensation.
"All villagers injured tonight—issue Condolence money. Make our stance clear: we're purging parasites, not targeting Konoha's ninjas."
"Second, immediately allocate funds to rebuild the Hokage Tower. Do it fast—let the villagers see a new atmosphere."
"Third—assign people to investigate financial expenditures related to orphans and bereaved children. Make those people spit every last bit of that money back out!"
"As for the remaining budget allocations and reforms to the mission system, you can handle those yourselves…"
"Better yet—establish a Konoha Management Committee, and invite all clan heads to participate jointly."
After speaking for a while, he felt a bit bored.
It wasn't as if he was going to stand atop the ruins of the Hokage Tower and give a loud speech.
Wasting that much breath—he might as well fire off a Tailed Beast Ball for fun.
Still, to Fugaku's ears, these words were both surprising and unsettling.
"This…"
"Compensation and reconstruction aren't a problem."
"But the orphan funds and mission rewards… that touches too many areas and could affect the interests of some major clans…"
"Interests?" Jin waved his hand dismissively. "There are too many parasites in Konoha. Cut them off, and the flesh will grow back on Konoha itself!"
"The Uchiha clan isn't here just to fight for power."
"We're here… to reshape the rules."
As he spoke, he stood up and walked to the doorway. Under the lamplight, his small figure cast a long shadow.
His gaze swept across everyone, carrying a force that pierced straight into their hearts.
He emphasized once more:
"Setting things right isn't as simple as killing a few people."
"If you're really afraid, then—pull one group in and strike another."
Setting things right!
Pull one group in, strike another!
Silence.
Absolute silence.
A pin could have been heard dropping in the council hall.
No one had expected that Jin, barely over ten years old, could utter such words.
Fugaku looked at his son, his emotions impossibly complex.
This was no longer the talkative, lazy son he remembered.
His son seemed even more outstanding than his father—
even in matters of governance!
"I… understand." Fugaku took a deep breath. "We'll do exactly as Jin said! Organize manpower immediately and carry it out on all fronts!"
"Yes!"
Several elders snapped out of it, light reigniting in their eyes.
They saw hope for the Uchiha's rise—and an entirely different path from the past.
Seeing this, Jin no longer intervened and headed straight outside.
On the courtyard wall.
He lay flat atop it, hands folded behind his head.
Gazing at the moon above, his fingers unconsciously rubbed the warm "Little Sun" behind his head.
At that moment, a prompt suddenly sounded.
