Chapter 4 - chapter 4

Marin's pov:

The first light of dawn slipped through the thin curtains, brushing the room with soft gold. I woke early, careful not to disturb Sofia still asleep on the couch.

I moved quietly, tidying my few belongings and wiping down the small kitchen counters. The apartment was modest, but it was ours for now.

Later, as I stepped into the bathroom, the warm water cascaded over me, washing away the last traces of doubt from yesterday.

Dressed and ready, I caught my reflection in the mirror. My hourglass figure stood at about five-foot-three—curves I'd never quite learned to appreciate. My long, jade-black hair tumbled past my waist, contrasting sharply with my pale skin.

My green, doe-like eyes stared back at me, framed by thick lashes, while my full, plum-colored lips pressed into a thin line. I had a round, heart-shaped face and, well... a very noticeable, full backside that often turned heads.

I glanced down at the simple outfit I'd chosen—nothing fancy, just a modest blouse and dark skirt. To me, it looked plain, nothing special. But today, I had to make it work.

I moved quietly in the kitchen, pulling together a simple breakfast—fresh bread, some cheese, and fruit. The smell soon stirred Sofia awake.

She rubbed her eyes and smiled at me. "Good morning, Marin. You look bright today."

I shrugged, trying to ignore the flutter of nerves in my stomach. "I guess it's because it's a new day."

Sofia chuckled, reaching out to squeeze my hand. "Come on, I want to take you to meet the manager before your first shift."

We stepped outside into the crisp morning air, the city already humming around us.

When we reached the club, the name caught my eye: *"The Serpent's Kiss."* The words alone sent a cold shiver down my spine.

Inside, the place buzzed with a dangerous energy—men with hard eyes gambling, whispering deals, and drinking deep into the night. Shadows moved like secrets, and the air was thick with smoke and tension.

I swallowed hard, my heart pounding. "Sofia... I don't know if I can do this."

She gave me a steady look. "I know it's a lot, but stick with me. We're here to meet the manager. You'll start tonight."

Taking a deep breath, I nodded, trying to steady the trembling in my hands.
