Nora's POV
I scoop Phoenix up in my arms and head downstairs, slipping into the kitchen before Uma can witness me cradling her boyfriend like a house pet. The whole situation feels surreal.
Gideon is still ransacking my refrigerator, probably disappointed by my poor food choices.
"So that's him?" He shuts the fridge door and studies Phoenix with raised eyebrows. "Damn. You did a perfect job with the transformation."
"He got lucky. If we can't reverse this, at least he makes an attractive cat. I can't keep him, but some family will snatch him up quickly at the animal shelter."
Gideon laughs. "I hope some eccentric old woman adopts him. The kind who dresses her cats in tutus and carries them in designer handbags."
"You're basically describing my future self."
"No way. You won't end up as a lonely cat lady." His eyes drift toward the office where James waits. "That man makes you glow with happiness. Anyone can see it."
