Nora's POV
"What should we do?" Ophelia demands, jumping up from her chair.
"The humans," Charlette responds, her mind working fast despite the chaos. "We have to get them away from here."
"Leave it to me," James declares, stepping away from my side.
He captures Vivien, Amiya, and Starla under his spell, convincing them the celebration was wonderful but it's time to head home. When he releases his hold, they collect their belongings, expressing gratitude for the invitation and mentioning what a lovely time they had.
The moment they disappear through the doorway, I spot dark smoke billowing from the distant horizon. If Hell truly breached our world, the demons aren't wasting precious time. My hands begin shaking uncontrollably as I pivot to secure the door. How can this be happening? Our protection spell held strong. No demons penetrated our defenses during the night.
We were victorious.
The atmosphere shifts subtly and I spin around to find Kevin materializing in our entryway.
