Nora's POV

Agony tears through my body like white-hot knives, dragging me from whatever enchanted slumber Leonard trapped me in. Every nerve screams as though I'm being split down the middle, and I gasp, attempting to move only to discover rope binding my wrists behind me and my ankles secured together. This familiar torment floods back - the same sensation when Beck performed her banishment ritual. Kevin has been cast away. Even if we escape this barrier, he cannot carry me to safety.

"Nora," James's voice reaches me, strained and desperate. "Nora, you must...you must resist this."

Clenching my jaw against the overwhelming pain, I force my eyelids apart.

"Nora," James whispers again before releasing a tortured groan.

My vision slowly adapts to the darkness as I survey my location. I'm sprawled in my own backyard, mere yards from the house.
