Nora's POV
James freezes completely when his blue eyes go wide, then breaks into an excited grin before practically carrying me to the couch.
"Could someone please answer the door?" I call to my familiars, knowing better than to argue with James as he props my feet up on the coffee table.
"Should I call the midwife?" His voice carries more panic than I've heard in months. It's endearing how my tough vampire gets rattled over his baby girl.
If anything could make my powerful, dangerous James nervous, it's definitely our daughter.
"That was a single contraction," I say, resting my hand on my belly. Whatever pain I felt, Renata experienced it too.
"Contraction?" Antonia's voice carries down as she speeds down the stairs. "You're having contractions now?"
"What's happening?" Ophelia's voice echoes from the entrance. Her bag hits the floor with a thud as she rushes in with Jill and Reyna trailing behind. "Is the baby coming?"
