Chapter 1 - Betrayed on Her Wedding Night

The wedding hall was still filled with applause when I realized my groom was missing.

Music played softly. Guests laughed. Glasses clinked.

Yet the seat beside me was empty.

I lifted my heavy white gown and walked toward the corridor behind the stage, my heels echoing against marble floors. A strange feeling clawed at my chest—tight, suffocating.

Then I heard it.

A woman's laugh.

Breathy. Intimate.

I froze in front of the half-open door.

"Slow down," a female voice whispered. "Someone might see."

My fiancé's voice followed, low and amused.

"Relax. She's too busy pretending to be happy."

I pushed the door open.

The world shattered.

There he was Lucian, still in his wedding suits, his hands wrapped around my cousin's bare waist, her lipstick smeared across his lips.

For a moment, no one spoke.

Then my cousin smiled at me.

"Oh," she said lightly. "You weren't supposed to find out like this."

My bouquet slipped from my fingers and hit the floor.

Ethan didn't even look guilty.

"Arian," he sighed, as if I were the inconvenience.

"Let's not make a scene."

A sound tore out of my throat something between a laugh and a sob.

"My entire life is a scene now," I whispered.

Behind me, the door burst open. Gasps filled the corridor as guests gathered. Phones were raised. Whispers spread like wildfire.

My stepmother pushed forward, her eyes sharp with calculation.

"Well," she said coldly, "since you've embarrassed everyone, perhaps it's best you leave."

I realized then.

I had no family.

No husband.

No place to go.

I turned away, stripped off the veil, and walked out of my own wedding alone.
