Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Given Another Chance!

Chapter 8: Given Another Chance!

Late March.

Marcus and his special operations team were inspecting three fake Sarah Connor addresses surrounding the FBI's Los Angeles field office, the closest being only one kilometer away and the furthest only 2.5 kilometers.

"Boss, look, this is a radio alarm system. We've installed them at the front door, the back door, and every single window. No matter how anyone enters these rooms, we'll receive a radio alarm immediately," Jackson explained.

"Very good," Marcus nodded in approval.

It was 1984, and technology was naturally not as advanced as it would be thirty years later.

"By the way, boss, every single phone here is connected to our office. If someone makes a call, it will all be transferred to us to prevent any accidents," Jackson continued.

"Well done," Marcus praised.

"Hehe," Jackson chuckled, grinning.

"By the way, have all the city's phone books been altered and falsified?" Marcus asked again.

"A total of 440 books were replaced, including 44 phone booths whose phone books were completely lost. We'll patrol and check them daily. The LAPD will also patrol and check them," Rodriguez reported.

Marcus nodded. "Keep a close eye on this. If those lost phone books are returned and happen to be discovered by our target, we'll be in a very passive position."

"Williams, you've memorized the sketch, right?" Marcus looked at Williams.

Williams nodded firmly. "Don't worry, Boss, I'll definitely keep an eye on the target Sarah Connor. If a target appears, I'll stop them even at the cost of my life."

Marcus patted Williams's shoulder. "It's not that serious. Once you spot a target, call us and the LAPD immediately. At the same time, you need to escape with the target as soon as possible."

"Understood," Williams nodded.

Marcus checked each of the three locations, confirming that every forged Sarah Connor address was legitimate. Then, he randomly selected twenty phone booths throughout Los Angeles, checking their corresponding phone books to verify if the addresses had been altered.

All twenty phone booths Marcus checked had their phone books altered; Sarah Connor's address and phone number had been changed to trap addresses.

"Now everything should be ready, just waiting for the main event, right?" Marcus thought to himself.

In The Terminator movie, the Terminator T-800's success was probably due to the authorities' incompetence.

Something so easily verifiable, despite multiple Sarah Connor murders, and a police station raided by the Terminator T-800, yet they turned a blind eye?

Faced with such a ridiculous plot, what could Marcus say?

He could only say that the Terminator T-800 wouldn't have an easy time this time. Marcus felt confident in his preparations!

"Congratulations! The host's plan has stirred up the River of Destiny, and the system has successfully acquired 3 points of Destiny," the Transcendence System reminded Marcus in his mind.

Marcus didn't reply immediately, waiting until he got home after work to check the Transcendence System's information.

"Three points of Destiny this time?" Marcus was surprised.

"Yes. Because the host's plan this time greatly changed the future. According to the host's plan, the fate of the key figure Sarah Connor has been completely changed, and the possibility of her being found by the Terminator immediately has been greatly reduced," the Transcendence System explained the situation.

"Because Sarah Connor is the key figure of Destiny, and the host's plan has indeed reversed Sarah Connor's fate, you were able to acquire 3 points of Destiny," the Transcendence System added.

Marcus smiled. According to the Transcendence System, perhaps he could make more plans targeting Sarah Connor?

However, half a month later, Marcus gave up!

He made a series of plans around Sarah Connor, but the Transcendence System said that none of them changed the River of Destiny, and the Transcendence System could not obtain Destiny from the River of Destiny.

This was a complete waste of effort!

Time flies, and May has arrived in the blink of an eye.

If Marcus remembers correctly, in the plot of The Terminator, Kyle Reese's time travel was May 12th, while Terminator T-800's time travel was slightly earlier on the same day.

Marcus has already altered the course of fate. Based on the plot of The Terminator, in the Terminator world, once events in the 1984 timeline change, future events also change; both exist on the same timeline.

"Could this be the Time Cage of the Terminator world?" Marcus suddenly had a flash of inspiration.

"I've already changed some things in 1984, which logically means the future will also be changed. Once the future changes, will Skynet make adjustments?" Marcus pondered to himself.

"It shouldn't make adjustments!" Marcus concluded.

He entered the Terminator world before Skynet awakened; for Skynet, Marcus is not a variable.

If Marcus had entered the Terminator world after Skynet's awakening, then he would be an uncertain variable.

"Regardless, we must remain vigilant now," Marcus reminded himself silently, as well as everyone in the special operations team and the relevant LAPD officials.

Although the FBI and the LAPD are two parallel systems, the FBI generally holds a higher position and can request the LAPD's cooperation in cases.

It was 11:55 PM on May 11th, nearing midnight.

Marcus wasn't asleep; he was waiting for the Terminator T-800 to arrive. Based on the plot of The Terminator, the Terminator T-800 was about to arrive, but its exact location was currently unknown.

Marcus dialed a phone number across the street from Sarah Connor's address. The FBI's Los Angeles field office had rented it as Williams's temporary residence to protect Sarah Connor.

A moment later, Williams answered the phone, speaking first, "Hello, this is Harry."

Harry was Williams's cover identity; his profession was a building superintendent.

"Williams, how's the situation on your end?" Marcus asked directly.

Williams recognized Marcus's voice and replied, "Everything's normal so far."

"Stay up a little later tonight. I'll arrange for Jackson to come over tomorrow. I have a feeling something might happen tonight," Marcus explained.

"Roger that, Boss," Williams replied.

"By the way, did you bring all your equipment?" Marcus pressed.

"Of course! Standard equipment!" Williams replied.

The standard equipment for the special operations team is an automatic shotgun, plus an M1911A1 pistol with four magazines. Williams will also add a sniper rifle for long-range support.

"Be careful! If you spot a target, don't try to fight them head-on, call for backup immediately!" Marcus reminded again.
