Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: First Simulation

[Day 1: You slept. In the morning, you woke up remembering your plan to visit the director. You washed up and ate, then headed toward the warehouse.]

[After receiving the gift from the warehouse owner, you took a car ride to the orphanage. Upon arrival, you immediately visited the director and gave him the warehouse owner's gift.]

[You did not discuss anything important—you just made sure the director was fine, then gave him some of your savings before leaving. However, before you left, the director gave you advice about trying your luck with the lottery.]

[After that, because it was already late, you headed home, ate dinner, then slept.]

[Day 2: You followed the director's advice and visited the northern part of the city to check out the lottery building and buy a ticket, then headed to work.]

[For the next week, you kept your schedule of home and work.]

[1st Week: You visited the lottery building to check the results and saw a portrait of a jackpot winner. You didn't pay it much attention and bought another ticket to try your luck.]

[Next Day: While cleaning fish, your skill leveled up, becoming intermediate. You felt the familiar sensation and noticed your way of cleaning fish had become more proficient.]

[2nd Week: You returned to the lottery building to see the results. However, you heard a rumor about last week's winner being found dead at sea.]

[After feeling the irony of luck, you headed out and worked again.]

[Three Days Later: As you were cooking your food for the night, the sensation returned. However, it was not the fish cleaning skill—instead, a new skill appeared called "Rough Cooking."]

[1st Month: You felt it again. However, it was still not the "Fish Cleaning" skill but the "Rough Cooking" skill becoming intermediate.]

[2nd Month: As you were cleaning fish, your "Fish Cleaning" skill leveled up again, becoming advanced.]

[4th Month: You went to the lottery building again like you always did. However, this time another winner appeared, but there was no portrait or info—it just said that someone had won.]

[You headed to work again. Later that evening, as you were cooking your food for the night, the familiar sensation washed over you as your "Rough Cooking" skill became advanced.]

[During that month, you kept visiting the lottery building and buying tickets. However, there was no mention of anyone dying.]

[6th Month: You were cleaning fish when the sensation came again as your "Fish Cleaning" skill became peak.]

[8th Month: You were cooking your food for the night when you felt it once more. This time, your "Rough Cooking" skill also became peak.]

[11th Month: You noticed that your "Fish Cleaning" skill proficiency had become full. However, it did not level up—instead, it remained stuck at peak.]

[You asked other workers if they had experienced the same thing. However, none of the workers you knew had their skills reach the limit, as those who did had already been moved to different areas.]

[You were left with no choice but to ask the warehouse owner, and he told you that after a skill reached its limit, it needed to evolve. He said that it would evolve as long as you surpassed your understanding of the skill.]

[1st Year: Your "Rough Cooking" skill also reached its limit. However, you now knew what to do.]

[1st - 1st Year: You were tired of eating ramen and rice, so you decided to buy meat instead and also bought a recipe book to learn cooking yourself.]

[2nd - 1st Year: As you were cooking the recipe, you became slightly proficient. The sensation returned. However, this time it contained knowledge—knowledge about the recipe you were cooking, bringing you to mastery of the recipe. Your "Rough Cooking" successfully became the first to evolve, becoming "Basic Cooking."]

[3rd - 1st Year: You noticed that your skill "Basic Cooking" had stopped progressing. However, you knew what to do.]

[In that month, you practiced using different recipes, and you also noticed that your skill "Basic Cooking" had started progressing again.]

[However, your "Fish Cleaning" skill still had not experienced its evolution, so you decided to do the same thing you had done to evolve your "Rough Cooking" skill.]

[4th Month - 1st Year: You decided to change to cleaning bigger fish, making your cleaning slower at first.]

[5th Month - 1st Year: Like what happened to the other skill, your "Fish Cleaning" skill also experienced its first evolution, becoming "Fish Butchering."]

[You reported the news to the warehouse owner. He then assigned you to a different area, and your salary changed to silver coins.]

[7th Month - 1st Year: You won the lottery. To claim your prize, you were asked to meet someone, and that's when you encountered a young man asking you whether you wanted to make a losing trade. You talked with him for a few minutes, but he didn't clarify anything. However, being as smart as you are, you immediately realized the truth about winning, and with reluctance, you accepted his trade.]

[After returning home, you hesitated while looking at the 5,000 gold coins in front of you, pondering whether to give the money to the director, as you knew he wouldn't accept it. Eventually, you didn't tell him you had won and instead did what you always did—hid half of the prize in a place only you knew.]

[2nd Year: You turned 20. You used some of your winnings and decided to celebrate your birthday at the orphanage. Using your "Basic Cooking" skill, you cooked for everyone at the orphanage.]

[3rd Month - 2nd Year: In the seven months that had passed, both of your skills "Basic Cooking" and "Fish Butchering" experienced their first level up.]

[3rd Year: The same celebration at the orphanage happened, but this time it was Lorena who cooked, making you aware of the difference between your skills.]

[4th Month - 3rd Year: Both of your skills "Basic Cooking" and "Fish Butchering" experienced their second level up.]

[4th Year: After the celebration, you and the director had a talk. He suggested that you should live in a better house. At first you didn't want to, as your current one was still usable and just needed some small renovations, but he forced you.]

[The Next Day: You decided to live in an apartment closer to your work.]

[2nd Month - 4th Year: Both of your skills "Basic Cooking" and "Fish Butchering" experienced their third level up.]

[5th Year: Same celebration.]

[6th Year: Celebration. "Basic Cooking" and "Fish Butchering" skills both experienced their last level up.]

[11th Month - 6th Year: Both of your skills reached their limit.]

[7th Year: Celebration. Later that evening, the director asked if you had anyone you were interested in and when you planned to build your own family. You fell silent.]

[8th Year: Celebration. You went to the lottery building to buy a ticket, but you were surprised by the news that it had closed down without anyone knowing the reason.]

[9th Year: Celebration. Both of your skills experienced their evolution, becoming "Proficient Cooking" and "Fish Preparation."]

[You realized that your skill "Fish Preparation" was different from other workers' skills, as it leaned into cooking and was not suitable for butchering fish.]

[1st Month - 9th Year: You decided to resign as a fish butcher and decided to establish your own business using the money you had won from the lottery and your savings.]

[You chose to establish a small restaurant closer to the orphanage, making it easy for you to visit the director, though he was still asking you the same question that always made you fall silent.]

[10th Year: Business was booming, making you earn gold coins daily. You used that as an excuse to support the orphanage and gave them half of your prize, making the orphanage wealthy. Though the director didn't accept it at first, as he was still waiting for your answer, you always pretended you didn't understand, but he eventually accepted it reluctantly.]

[From that moment on, the orphanage became new and much bigger than what you had known.]

[12th Year: Both of your skills leveled up twice.]

[16th Year: Both of your skills reached their limit, only needing to evolve.]

[17th Year: Bad news came. The director fell ill because of old age. You and others took him to a hospital. You closed your business and decided to take care of the director along with others.]

[20th Year: The director passed away at the age of 86. Although no tears fell from your eyes, your heart felt empty.]

[After the director was buried, his belongings fell into your hands. Others even asked if you wanted to inherit the orphanage; however, you didn't respond and let them manage it.]

[21st Year: In trying to distract yourself, you opened your business again. However, the taste had degraded, becoming less popular.]

[22nd Year: Business went down. However, you were wealthy and didn't need to worry about money. You spent the rest of your time inside and only went out when necessary.]

[23rd Year: The warehouse owner also passed away. However, compared to the director, you didn't feel as empty—just sad.]

[24th Year: In the quiet night, you unconsciously looked at the night sky. As you were looking, memories passed through your mind. You remembered your conversation with the director at your 25th birthday about building a family.]

[You didn't understand the concept of family, making you fall silent then, but since the director passed, the emptiness in your heart didn't vanish.]

[Instead of building a family, you went back to the orphanage and decided to adopt a child.]

[At first, you thought of giving the child the same name, "Mario." However, you decided against it and gave him "Kevin" instead. You made him call you Teacher instead of Father.]

[You taught Kevin everything you knew about cooking, planning to make him your successor.]

[26th Year: With the company of Kevin, your adopted child and student, the emptiness you felt was slightly filled.]

[That Year: You mustered up the courage to rummage through the director's belongings. You found a certain thing you didn't expect to find—a long blade that shines like a star when light hits it. You also found a diary.]

[Through the diary, you learned about "Unique Skills," and you also learned about the "Capital City."]

[27th Year: You restarted your small restaurant business.]

[28th Year: As you were teaching Kevin about cooking, the sensation returned. But this time, it was different. Both of your skills were gone, replaced by one different skill: "Master Chef - 1st Tier."]

[Your understanding of cooking and fish preparation fused, giving you mastery of knowledge when it came to cooking any type of fish while also giving you knowledge on how to make it tastier.]

[Because of that, your small restaurant became the best restaurant in the city.]

[38th Year: Kevin turned 18. He also received his own proficiency panel. However, he received more than a proficiency panel—he became a Unique Skill holder.]

[You decided to give Kevin the diary from the director and also the mysterious blade, and you gave him all your savings so he could find his own path instead of becoming a humble restaurant owner.]

[However, Kevin refused, saying that he wanted to stay and learn from you; you already knew that you had nothing left to teach him.]

[Eventually, having no choice, you forced Kevin to leave, and being filial, he followed, though reluctantly.]

[39th Year: You were alone again.]

[45th Year: You fell ill. With no one to care for you at home, you remained in the hospital under the care of doctors and nurses.]

[50th Year: You were visited by Kevin. He became emotional seeing your situation. He then told you he would take you to the capital, as you could be cured there. However, you were already weak.]

[Kevin took you to the capital. Although the technology there was more advanced, it could not cure you and merely extended your life for a few more years.]

[55th Year: You died.]

[Because of your death, the simulation has ended.]

[Memory integration will now begin. Prepare for full sensory recall…]

Before Mario could fully process what he had read in the simulation log, his eyelids grew heavy. The more he resisted, the stronger the weight became. Eventually, he walked to the bed, lay down, and fell asleep almost instantly—forgetting even to wash up.
