While Conrad was back from the office of Geralt, somebody arrived at his door.
"Two people; they do not hide their arrival," Conrad thought.
After they knocked on his door, he opened it, and then it was Adarte as well as Anisa.
He looked at them for a moment, and then Adarte spoke.
"Conrad, I am sorry for arriving at your room without telling you, but I think you would like to hear what I say."
Conrad thought for a moment and then asked.
"What is it about?"
Adarte looked around for a moment to see if there was anybody listening and then added.
"A mission that pays great."
"If you would like to listen, can we enter?"
Conrad touched his chin and then nodded.
"It would do no bad to me to hear them out. Truth to be told, timing was great."
Conrad right now was lacking funds due to giving what he had to for his ability.
So if there is a mission, he would like to see it.
After Adarte and Anisa entered, Adarte started talking and filling in the details.
Conrad listened without interrupting.
His face did not change when the number was spoken, but something else shifted quietly behind his eyes.
"One point five billion," he repeated.
"For three people."
Adarte nodded.
"Yes. The payment is split evenly."
Conrad turned slightly and picked up a towel, wiping sweat from his hands.
His En slowly contracted, no longer spread for training.
He leaned against the table and looked at both of them.
"You said trafficking," he said. "Kids."
Anisa nodded once.
"Confirmed. We've seen the reports."
Conrad exhaled slowly through his nose.
"That changes the tone," he said.
Adarte hesitated.
"We thought it might."
Conrad spoke again.
"I need more details about the target and the organization."
Anisa leaned forward.
"The name of them is the Herivo Mafia Group, under Maxwell Herivo."
"They're expanding aggressively. Around twenty to thirty armed members; at least one Nen user is confirmed in the rank. It is not Maxwell but some sort of protector for him."
Conrad crossed his arms.
"And the council couldn't send official forces," he said.
Adarte gave a dry smile.
"Officially, they don't exist."
"Of course."
Conrad looked at the floor for a moment, thinking.
"I don't work with people who freeze when things get ugly," Conrad said.
"So before anything else, can you two kill without hesitation?"
Adarte stiffened slightly, then answered honestly.
"Yes."
Anisa did not answer immediately.
She met Conrad's eyes.
"I can," she said. "But I won't enjoy it."
Conrad nodded once.
"Good."
He pushed himself off the table.
"This isn't an arena fight," he continued.
"No referees. No rules. If we do this, we do it clean and absolute."
Anisa frowned slightly.
"Clean?"
"No collateral," Conrad said. "No unnecessary deaths. Targets only."
Anisa was silent for a moment, then nodded.
"Understood."
Adarte let out a slow breath.
"You're taking command."
"I'm not asking," Conrad replied.
Adarte finally said,
"Fair."
Anisa tilted her head slightly.
"What's your plan?"
Conrad walked over to the table and placed his three orbs in a straight line.
"Phase one," he said. "Recon. I'll handle it alone."
Conrad took a deep breath and nodded.
"These two are not experienced in terms of real missions."
Conrad knew within his mind that he was not experienced in these kinds of battles either.
But he had one different idea and mindset from them.
He knew how Nen users operated and thought about what to think and what kind of actions needed to be taken.
While Adarte and Anisa sat down, Conrad walked towards his window and looked down.
"Three Nen users, a great plan, a small mafia leader with a Nen user, and more than two hundred armed men to protect him."
"It can be done."
Conrad has some idea about the power of the group.
Anisa and Adarte both could handle themselves against a nen user with no problem.
One thing that made a difference in their terms that separated them from the other Nen users was that they were Heaven's Arena fighters.
Due to this reality and fact, Anisa and Adarta, even with just three to five fights, still have more experience in terms of nen battles against other nen users.
That was not a problem.
"I need to think of a great plan."
"They are not aware, most likely, but if Maxwell gathered enough attention on himself in Heavens Arena and City Council to put a hit on himself, he must be prepared to defend himself against the enemies."
"He is most likely aware of the nen due to his protector, and they will make a plan to defend themselves."
"This is a real mission."
While Conrad thought about these things, a slight energy manifested on the silver chain that he wore.
"Oh."
"Great."
Conrad thought.
He felt it clearly; the silver chain responded to him.
It means that all the conditions are fulfilled.
Geralt completed what he needed to do.
This means that Silver Chain—Hand Of The Future was active.
"That is great to know and gives me more freedom to act."
