The return journey to Sunagakure was peaceful.

The dunes stretched out before them like an unmoving sea, tinted golden by the setting sun. The wind blew gently, lifting small spirals of sand that dissolved instantly. None of the four shinobi spoke for hours. It wasn't an uncomfortable silence, but one filled with understanding.

They had achieved what they set out to do.

The Wind Daimyo had agreed to support Sunagakure, accomplishing things that even the former Kazekages had not been able to.

That alone was already a victory for the Kazekage, who wanted the best for his village.

The Kazekage advanced at the front with a firm step, his silhouette outlined against the horizon. Chiyo and Ebizo followed closely, as attentive as ever. Daigo walked a few steps behind, keeping the pace without difficulty, though his mind never stopped working.

For his part, Daigo was already planning his training routine. He knew that Suna's survival and the Daimyo's support were in his hands to fulfill what they had requested.

Even if it wasn't the case, that was the plan Daigo sought: to become important to the village and the Land of Wind, drawing enough attention so that no one could make any dirty moves—like what had happened in the past when ninjas like Pakura died due to betrayal.

Though Daigo was cheerful, helpful, and loved to assist, he wasn't naive. This wasn't a world where everything went well, and he knew there were infiltrators in the village, power struggles, and much more. He also knew he had everyone's attention.

Perhaps the other villages had already been notified of Suna's different movements and even his presence. That was why he still didn't want to reveal his Crystal Release to everyone.

He wanted to use it as a surprise in the war and win through the surprise attack.

When the walls of Sunagakure finally appeared in the distance, the sky began to darken. The torches were already lit, and the murmur of the village reached them like a familiar and comforting sound.

Upon crossing the gates, the guards bowed immediately with respect upon seeing the Kazekage. The group didn't stop. They walked straight toward the center of the village until, reaching a wide intersection, the Kazekage stopped.

"Here we part ways," he said calmly.

Chiyo nodded, preparing to leave.

"It was a productive trip—more than I expected," she commented.

Ebizo adjusted his robe.

"Now the real work begins. If you need anything more, Kazekage-sama, you know where to find us."

With their final words, they disappeared from their places—likely heading to their homes.

The Kazekage then turned his gaze to Daigo.

"Daigo," he called.

The young man stepped forward immediately, bowing his head in respect.

"Tomorrow morning, present yourself at my office. There is something important I need to discuss with you," the Kazekage said to Daigo.

Daigo looked up, nodding—he would be there in the Kazekage's tower.

"Yes, Kazekage-sama."

The Kazekage added nothing more. He turned and began walking away in what seemed like a nighttime stroll to appreciate what the village was. Daigo remained for a few seconds watching his figure disappear among the people before exhaling slowly.

What the Kazekage had to tell him was surely something important. Then he left with a shunshin.

He had traveled quickly to Suna but wasn't tired. He headed to the private training grounds, where—as usual—the shinobi in charge of the training fields allowed him in after paying the necessary fee to train.

The night sky stretched above him, full of stars. Daigo closed his eyes and took a deep breath, focusing his chakra.

The main problem, as Daigo had thought, was the excessive chakra consumption that made it unsustainable to use—since he could use earth jutsu with less expenditure and last longer.

So what he did was a simple exercise—as he had seen Naruto train to control the wind element—instead of a leave he grab a rock from the ground, placing it in his hands, and then channeling his chakra into it.

What he sought was to turn the stone inside into crystal while the exterior remained stone—thus increasing his control and being able to decrease the expenditure by compressing, creating, and manipulating crystal in an already existing object instead of creating it from nothing.

He stayed like that for a while in the field, focusing on it—though he wouldn't achieve it overnight. If only he had shadow clones and create an army to train and achieve things much faster than normal.

The next morning, Daigo presented himself at the Kazekage's tower before dawn.

He climbed the stairs in silence, greeted the secretary—who was already working before dawn to have everything ready for the day—and waited. It didn't take long—within minutes, he was allowed in.

The Kazekage was already waiting for him.

He wasn't alone.

On one side of the office, standing with arms crossed, was Rasa. His expression was serious, almost rigid. When Daigo entered, their gazes crossed briefly, but neither said anything.

"Take a seat, Daigo," the Kazekage ordered.

Daigo simply took a seat and then focused his attention on the Kazekage.

The Kazekage placed his hands on the desk and got straight to the point.

"I've made a decision," he said. "With the war approaching and what happened in the meeting with the Wind Daimyo, I can't afford to waste your talent and your importance to the village's financial support."

At the Kazekage's words, Daigo just nodded—he knew it wasn't so simple for a child to hold so much weight in the village.

"That's why, starting today, you will be trained directly by me—becoming my second disciple."

Daigo was surprised by that he never thought he would take him on as a disciple.

"Along with Rasa," the Kazekage added, not giving him time to continue thinking.

For his part, Rasa—though it wasn't noticeable in his serious posture—if you looked closely, you could see how he slightly tensed his jaw at his teacher words.

"Both of you will train under my supervision, offering the best things to increase your strength along with your experience," the Kazekage explained.

Already knowing what Daigo had to do, he stood up to offer a bow to the Kazekage.

"I accept becoming your disciple, Kazekage-sama," Daigo said.

Who would decline the offer; with the help of the Kazekage, he was sure he would have everything he needed to grow in every way.

The Kazekage nodded.

"Good. Then let's not waste time talking—I prefer training with actions rather than lecture."

He turned to Rasa.

"Rasa, I want you to fight him. Keep increasing your strength whenever you see fit and push him to the limit," the Kazekage said, looking at Rasa.

Rasa raised an eyebrow.

"Here?" Rasa asked, looking at both.

At this, both looked at him as if he were stupid for what he had just said.

"Here not in the training ground—if you damage anything here, you won't get paid for a whole month of missions," the Kazekage responded.

Minutes later, the three were in a wide training field used only by the Kazekage. The wind seemed still, as if it knew a battle was about to occur and didn't want to disturb anyone.

The Kazekage positioned himself to the side.

"This is not a friendly combat. I want to see how far Daigo's level goes, but I also want to see how Rasa controls the situation—without using all his strength from the beginning."

Rasa stepped forward.

"Understood, Sensei. I'll do my best."

Daigo just smiled, knowing he could use all his strength against someone like Rasa.

"I'll do my best too, Rasa. Get ready."

The Kazekage raised his hand—for a few seconds later lowering it.

In the instant the Kazekage lowered his hand, the atmosphere changed. The air seemed to grow heavy, charged with a static electricity that made Daigo's hair stand on end.

Rasa didn't make any slow hand seals; he simply crossed his arms, and at his feet, the ground began to change to a metallic golden glow. It was the Gold Dust moved by his magnetic will.

Daigo knew he couldn't afford the luxury of letting Rasa get comfortable. He charged forward, his footsteps kicking up clouds of sand. He knew Rasa was a long-range user, and every meter of distance was an advantage for the jōnin.

Preparing his jutsu.

"Doton: Kengan no Jutsu (Rock Fist)," Daigo exclaimed.

His right arm became covered in dense rock layers, transforming into a stone mace. He threw a direct punch at Rasa's face, but just centimeters away, a golden shield rose from the ground at lightning speed, blocking the impact. The sound was deafening—a metallic crash that made Daigo's fist vibrate.

"Too slow and predictable, Daigo," Rasa said calmly.

With a flick of his wrist, the golden shield transformed into a multitude of heavy, fine spikes that shot toward Daigo's abdomen. Daigo reacted on instinct—seeing the quick attack—performing a backflip while tracing seals in the air.

Knowing he couldn't keep dodging, he prepared new hand seals.

"Doton: Doryūheki (Earth Wall)."

A solid stone wall rose to intercept the spikes. However, Rasa didn't stop. He extended his right hand, and the gold sand—instead of crashing against the wall—split into two fluid currents that surrounded the obstacle like snakes stalking their prey.

Seeing his wall was useless Daigo simply shook his head.

"His control is impeccable," Daigo thought, feeling sweat run down his neck. "If I stay on the defensive, he'll defeat me pathetically."

Thinking quickly about the next move, he closed his eyes for a microsecond, focusing on his breathing. Chakra began swirling in his lungs, expanding his thoracic capacity beyond human limits.

"First Breath: Opening," he whispered to himself.

His pink pupils dilated. Oxygen flooded his cells, granting him an explosion of energy. When Rasa's gold currents closed in to trap him, Daigo was no longer there. He moved with a shunshin so fast that he left an afterimage of his figure.

He appeared above Rasa, descending with an axe kick charged with chakra. Rasa, surprised by the sudden increase in speed, had to deploy a hemispherical gold shield above his head. The impact cracked the ground beneath Rasa's feet, sinking the jōnin several centimeters into the sand.

"This is..." Rasa narrowed his eyes, feeling the pressure and strength Daigo's child body exerted—impossible to achieve. "A strength enhancement technique?" Rasa wondered.

"There's still more," Daigo shouted, landing and launching a series of taijutsu attacks at a dizzying speed toward Rasa.

Each of Daigo's strikes was a combination of physical strength and precision. He struck the gold dome again and again, seeking a resonance point. Rasa, inside his defense, remained calm—but inside he was evaluating the threat.

He knew Daigo was a low chūnin, but his current physical strength rivaled that of a high chūnin.

Rasa decided it was time to show why he held his rank. He couldn't allow Daigo to break the defense—he would show his sensei that Daigo wasn't at his level.

"Fūton: Atsugai (Pressure Damage)."

Rasa released a compressed wind blast from his position, pushing Daigo back. While the young man struggled to maintain balance, Rasa extended both arms. The ground around Daigo exploded. Tons of gold sand rose into the air, forming dense clouds that darkened the morning sun.

"Satetsu Kaihō (World Order of Gold Sand)."

The sand condensed into thousands of fine, heavy needles that began falling in an erratic, magnetic trajectory.

Daigo only looked at them and started moving fast. If even one of those needles touched him, the weight of the gold would hinder his movement, allowing Rasa to achieve checkmate.

"Second Breath of the Seven Heavens," Daigo whispered.

The effort was immense. His muscles seemed to feed more on blood and oxygen, and his veins stood out on his temples. His chakra control becoming more easy to handle.

With the acquired speed, he sank into the sand as if it were water, starting to move at high speed—feeling Rasa's gold needles pierce the sand like butter.

"Are you going to stay underground, Daigo? Is that all?" Rasa said from his place, controlling more gold sand.

From the farthest part, Daigo emerged from the sand, only smiling—feeling the challenge of facing someone who controlled sand in a desert.

Knowing the strength of the current Rasa Daigo, he realized that perhaps Rasa wasn't as weak as he thought, but rather that the others were monsters with superior techniques.

Not wanting to prolong the battle any further, Daigo wanted to punch Rasa's serious face because he didn't like it, so he lunged forward at full speed, getting closer than Rasa wanted him to be.

Faced with Daigo's attack, Rasa decided to force him to surrender using one of his favorite jutsu.

Satetsu: Kinshaki no Nami (Gold Dust: Golden Sediment Wave)

A wave of golden sand appeared before Daigo's eyes, who simply smiled at the challenge ahead, launching himself against the wave that seemed to devour everything in its path.

"Rasa, I told you that i would give my best. Now just give up—this wave won't do anything to me," Daigo said, focusing all his chakra into his fist.

When the gold sand wave seemed to have fulfilled its function, a force wave appeared to split it in half—before the surprised gaze of Rasa, who—thinking that attack would be the end—lowered his defense.

Being grabbed by Daigo, who struck him with his other fist in the face accomplishing his goal and then finished with a kick, sending him flying—though he wouldn't let him get up he start to follow behind.

Though to his dismay, an iron sand wall interposed between them.

"Enough. I've seen what you're capable of, as well as Rasa," the Kazekage's voice said.
