Not all in the sect were pleased.
"Foolish brat. Just because you got a flashy soul, don't think you're special," sneered Yuan Ling, a senior disciple. His black tiger martial soul shimmered, sharp as obsidian.
Lin Yao clenched his fists. "I don't need your approval."
The sect master stepped forward. "Enough. Lin Yao, if you wish to prove yourself, enter the Trial of the Spirit Valley. Show us your true potential."
Lin Yao nodded. The Trial of the Spirit Valley was notorious. Many had entered, few returned. He took a deep breath and stepped into the glowing portal, leaving the murmurs of envy behind.
Inside, the valley was alive. Spirit beasts, from the size of wolves to enormous stone dragons, roamed freely. Lin Yao's heart raced. He had never faced a real danger before.
But as he stepped forward, the fragment of Primordial Chaos in his soul whispered, "Awaken. Grow. Surpass them all."
