Fini floated in mid-air using the Sky Dance Technique (Wukongshu). Before he could make a move, the Hulk, not far away, let out a furious roar and charged toward the shooting soldiers, stamping with every step.
Fini paid no attention to the Hulk's actions. Although the Hulk was immensely powerful, his IQ was clearly a major flaw.
Scanning the area, Fini quickly spotted Ross. After all, among the large group of surrounding soldiers, he was the only one dressed exquisitely, and he was accompanied by a woman who was, undoubtedly, his daughter and Banner's girlfriend.
Fini immediately flew toward Ross.
Ross, who had been observing Fini and the Hulk's movements, instantly realized something was wrong and immediately pulled his daughter, attempting to return to the car.
"Trip!"
How could Fini let him succeed? He reinforced the idea in his mind using the 'Golden Great Divination Art' (Jinse Dayanshu), supplementing it with a spoken command, causing Ross to fall flat on his face.
"Dad!"
The woman beside him screamed and quickly helped Ross up.
The surrounding soldiers tried to shoot at Fini, but he instantly blew them away with a silently chanted 'Explosive Magic' (Baolie Mofa).
Fini landed next to Ross, grabbed him, and lifted him up. Before Fini could ask a single question, the woman next to him grabbed his cape and cried out tragically:
"Let go of my dad!"
"Betty, get out of here!"
"Dad!"
Fini was stunned by this scene. Why had it suddenly turned into a deep father-daughter melodrama? Why did it suddenly look like he was the bad guy? He was clearly the victim here.
"Shut up!"
Fini yelled angrily. Actually, his main purpose for coming was the issue of the Hulk and the Abomination. He hadn't planned on having much interaction with Ross at all.
If Ross hadn't insisted on courting death, Fini wouldn't have bothered with him.
"Please, let go of my dad."
Women rarely remain calm when panicked, and Betty was clearly no exception. Ignoring Fini's anger, she clung sobbing to Fini's leg and begged for mercy.
Fini hadn't really planned on killing Ross. After all, he was still a general in the military. He had only intended to teach Ross a good lesson so that he wouldn't dare provoke him again. But now, Betty's actions made him feel cornered and unable to back down. Sure enough, children messing things up for their fathers were everywhere.
"Move!"
Fini gave Betty a cold look. Although the crimson eyes on his faceplate terrified Betty, she held fast to his cape, her eyes filled with pleading.
"Faint…"
Just as Fini angrily planned to use the 'Golden Great Divination Art' to make Betty pass out, a tremor suddenly came from beneath his feet, and he heard something in his ear.
Fini's expression instantly changed. Too late to turn his head, he snatched Betty, grabbed Ross, and quickly ascended.
The next second, the crazed Hulk directly charged to the spot where Fini had just been. He raised his head and roared angrily at Fini in the air: "ROAR!"
"Bruce!"
Betty, held by Fini, started crying again, though it seemed her tears had never really stopped.
Ross's face also changed as he looked toward the squad the Hulk had just charged; the area was now a ruin, with virtually nothing left intact.
The Hulk looked at Betty, his expression seemingly shifting slightly, but then he roared angrily at Fini again, his eyes bloodshot and his expression furious. At the same time, he bent his legs, apparently gathering strength.
"Damn it!"
Fini seemed to understand something and cursed silently in anger. If he wasn't mistaken, his interaction with Betty just now must have caused the Hulk to misunderstand something, taking Fini as an enemy.
Watching the Hulk prepare to jump, Fini didn't dare wait around. Carrying two burdens, he couldn't fly fast, so he immediately descended quickly and dropped Betty off.
After all, carrying her was like a strength amplifier for the Hulk; it would only make him angrier and stronger.
As for Ross, Fini didn't want to let him go so easily. If he dropped him, Ross would surely escape and might harbor resentment. So, Fini decided Ross should first experience what it felt like to have life and death controlled by someone else.
After Fini put Betty down, the Hulk's anger indeed subsided quite a bit; the expression on his face even seemed a little relaxed.
However, given the Hulk's current IQ, he didn't understand much. He seemed convinced that Fini was an enemy, possessing a fierce determination not to stop until he was eliminated, and continued to chase Fini in the air, eager to fight.
Carrying only one person, Fini was much more relaxed. Relying on his skilled Sky Dance Technique, he held Ross by the clothes with one hand while dodging the Hulk's jumping hammer blows and garbage throws in the air.
He would then counter with a silent 'Explosive Magic' spell, and occasionally pretend to use Ross as a shield to frighten him. For a time, the back-and-forth was quite entertaining.
Fini found it amusing, but Ross was practically having a heart attack. Even when he was on the battlefield years ago, he had never felt such sheer terror.
Watching the trees, car doors, weapons, and other objects whistling past him, Ross genuinely regretted confronting Fini.
Because they were concerned about his presence, the surrounding soldiers dared not attack, only cautiously standing guard and waiting for a chance to rescue him.
Regardless, Ross was a battle-hardened general; reaching his current position wasn't entirely based on connections. He roughly calculated the distance to the ground and decided to save himself.
As the Hulk kept missing Fini, his rage value increased, his strength grew, and the objects he threw became fiercer. Fini had to respond cautiously; getting hit by one of them would be quite dangerous.
And it was at this moment that Betty, constantly worried about the safety of her father and her boyfriend, couldn't hold back anymore. Seizing the opportunity when the soldiers were distracted, she broke free from her guards, rushed into the battlefield, spread her arms, and shouted:
"Stop fighting, all of you!"
When Betty rushed over, the Hulk almost mistook her for an enemy and nearly threw the car wheel he had just picked up. Fortunately, after seeing her face clearly, he forcefully stopped his action.
"ROAR!"
The Hulk, green all over and holding the spare tire, roared at Betty, seemingly wanting her to leave immediately.
Fini also stopped attacking. After all, he and the Hulk were fundamentally not enemies; his purpose for coming was the Abomination. Thinking of the Abomination, Fini quickly surveyed the surroundings.
The surrounding soldiers held their guns warily, and he couldn't tell which one was the Abomination.
In fact, Fini didn't know that Blonsky—the future Abomination, currently still human—had already been severely injured by one of the Hulk's slaps before Fini even arrived, and was being taken away for rescue by other soldiers while Fini and the Hulk were fighting.
"Now's the time!"
While Fini was surveying the area, Ross finally found his chance. He quickly pulled out the tactical knife hidden in his boot, twisted his body, cut his clothing loose, and dropped from the sky.
Since Fini was in the air, Betty's intention when rushing over was primarily to stop the Hulk, and she only had confidence in stopping the Hulk. Due to exhaustion, she stopped halfway, but her position happened to be somewhat directly beneath Fini.
Even so, if Ross fell, he shouldn't have hit Betty at all.
But unfortunately, although the Hulk was incredibly powerful, his brain didn't function well when things went wrong. Therefore, when he saw Ross falling from the sky, he mistakenly thought Fini was trying to use Ross to smash Betty.
He immediately let out an angry roar, rushed toward Betty, sheltered her in his arms, and simultaneously—with a swipe of his left hand—slapped Ross away, allowing the General to experience exactly what Blonsky had felt shortly before.
Fini watched this scene dumbfounded from the air, failing to react for a moment, but he knew one thing: the situation seemed to have become somewhat troublesome.
While writing this chapter, the scene from "Duel at the Forbidden Peak" kept lingering in my mind, making me inexplicably wonder: what if the protagonist and the Hulk had a dance-off...
