Calvin hadn't been mumbling for a while, and we had already skipped the first few classes. It was lunch and he still hadn't woken up, and I was still blushing hard and couldn't bare his gaze upon me. I was looking up at him as we lay on the ground, his arm around me, grabbing my waist, holding me in place, was warm against the cool grass. I looked at his face, and I realized his pale skin was softer than I remembered.
His eyes slowly fluttered open as he regained consciousness, and he looked around, attempting to assess the situation. He wasn't in his bed like he last remembered, but instead was holding his closest friend like he would his wife. His emerald eyes gazed into my pale blue ones, and than the realization of what was happening seemed to slam into him. He emediantly let go and started frantically aplogizing while I stood up and dusted off my uniform for the second time today.
"I am so sorry! I didn't know what I was doing! Did I hurt you? Are you okay? You look like you are a little flushed, are you okay?" He sputtered over his words like a cheetah chasing its tail, but his face was flushed as well.
"I'm okay." I croaked out. "We are a bit late for class and it's almost lunch time, but I couldn't bring myself to wake you up. You looked very peaceful."
His face got even redder as he asked, "Did I say anything?"
I stammered as I tried to say no, but he saw through that and sat back down on the floor, with his head in his hands.
"I-" He started, then hesitated before continuing. "I have a history of sleep talking and sleep walking. I didn't think I could do something like this but I guess I did. Although, the dream I had..." He couldn't finish, but I understood.
"Was it about me?" I asked, which made his face go ever redder than I ever thought it could go, but he nodded.
"How much exactly did I say?"
"Enough." I said, equally as embarrassed.
Then he took a deep breathe as said, "Well than, I wouldn't have asked before but, will you go out with me?"
My breathe caught on my throat. I just realized I liked the guy an hour ago! But that's great for me, since I get him as soon as I realize I like him.
"Yeah. As long as you don't kidnap me in your sleep again. I don't want my perfect attendance record going down the drain. I ruined it today but I'll just say my hamster died or something. They'll understand."
His eyes lit up as he laughed, and I couldn't help but laugh along with him. That's just the kind of guy he is. He lights up my world.
"Lily and Calvin!" A voice yelled from behind me. "There you are! Nobody could find either one of you! You'd better not have been smooching behind here!" It was the P.E. teacher. He just loved to make people's lives miserable. "Lily, I wouldn't have expected this from you. Calvin, maybe, but you Lily, never in a million years. You are my star student. You show up every day, I know you wouldn't have don't this on purpose. Are you two having a lovers tiff? If so, make sure to tell me in advance that you won't be here. You need backup? I'm a great wrestler!"
"No thanks, Mr. Marlin." I replied hastily. We are fine now. I'll join up with you in a few minutes if that's alright."
"Sure! Only for my star student though." He turned to Calvin. "You get detention after school today in my office for an hour. You can't take poor Lily here and disappear!"
"Yes, Mr. Marlin." Calvin replied sheepishly.
As Mr. Marlin left, I turned back to Calvin and whispered, "That guy creeps me out." Then ran to get to my next class before the bell rang for the hundredth time.
I saw through the next three classes of the day, staring at the wall and wishing Calvin was in them. I was bored out of my mind, and I'm never that bored.
I tapped my pencil against the desk impatiently, waiting for 3:00 when we could do after-school activities. Sylvia noticed my irritation passed a note asking if I was okay. I passed it back after writing I was fine, but we should talk later about Calvin. She gave me the look, but didn't pry any farther.
By 5:00 o'clock, we finished activities and study hall and had some time before dinner. That was when Calvin had detention, so I filled Sylvia in on what happened.
"No way! He said that in his sleep, and it turned out to be true? That's rare. Congrats girl! You pulled a good one. His eyes would make any girl smitten. His jawline is nice too though. How did his muscles feel? Was he strong?" She kept gushing until I replied.
"Yes he was strong, and I don't understand half the other questions you are asked. Calm down and restart."
"Are you guys dating now?" She asked with a strange glint in her eye I couldn't quite place.
"Yes, but I should probably talk with him after detention so I can explain to him what happened as he slept. He knows most of it, but who knows. I just think we should talk. We are going out now after all."
Sylvia smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. I was gonna ask about it, but then we heard a knock on the door. It was Calvin.
