Chapter 2 - 002: The Transmigration

Modern Yueli transmigrated at this moment. She recovered the original body's memories and calmly accepted her fate.

The reason she drank poison and killed herself in the modern world was because of the person she loved. That person betrayed her. Because of that person, she lost everything. The moment she died, she wished if she could live a normal life.

Who thought she would have transmigrated? And what's wrong if her new husband is ugly? She was already sick of running after beauties in her modern life. And none of those loves proved any worth. So she decided.

If some person loves and cares for her, as long as she has a house to live, modern Yueli did not care even if her husband was ugly. She was already happy to have transmigrated. What more could she wish for?

Yueli sighed. The original body was really dumb to run after troubles. What's wrong with this free life in this calm and peaceful village? The morning she woke up and recovered these memories, Jiang Luo had already left to hunt.

The wrecked house only had two rooms. One was the kitchen and the other was the bedroom. The kitchen was empty except few hard earned necessities for cooking.

There was also one old table with a dish of roasted fish. Yueli remembered. This was what Jiang Luo roasted last night for the dinner. Jiang Luo didn't eat anything for the dinner and always keep it for her in the morning.

Yueli was moved. How cruel the original body had been? The bed room only had a little bed. There were no chairs anywhere. Even during their poor lunch they only had their bedside to sit.

But Jiang Luo didn't fight for space. After he realized she didn't like him, he gave the bed to her and sat on the cracked floor to eat. He slept on the bare floor in the night and ignored the trickling water and bone chilling coldness of rainy nights.

Modern Yueli's heart ached. She walked out of the room and sighed looking at the cold morning. Things were just messier...

Because that their house was built by the corner of the village, to the left loomed a fairly dense forest to where Jiang Luo went hunting.

Jiang Luo had also cleaned the land around the house. But in his clumsy pitiful manner it looked so disorganized.

Yueli knew Jiang Luo would be late this day. So since she had nothing else to do, she got herself busied with the house chores for a while, like a dutiful wife.

She went to the river and brought water to wash the little house and scrubbed off the dust in the walls until they looked clean. She washed the torn sheets of the bed and hung them to dry on the branches. He even found unwashed garments of her husband piled and hidden under the bed.

"..."

Yueli washed them too. Then after getting busy around the house for a while, the garden looked a lot cleaner than before. She narrowed her eyes in satisfaction.

Now it looked like it. She looked at the half wrecked roof and cracked walls with furrowed brows and thought to herself. He must get them fixed before the rainy season comes. When the house chores were done, it was already evening.

Yueli wandered in the shallow forest to collect fire wood. She also picked edible fruits and dug yams, boiled them and made them into a broth with some greens and the roasted fish Jiang Luo had left for her that morning.

So when Jiang Luo returned in the late evening, Yueli was already sitting by the stony step to the house.

When Yueli saw the weary person who was returning, she sprang to her legs and waved her arms excitedly. "Luo Luo! You're back!"

And that person was stunned. He almost dropped the bundle of lotus roots that he had brought. Yueli grinned, going to him and picked up the fallen things. With the other, she held Jiang Luo's callused palm gently, but firmly.

"Luo Luo, let's go inside..."
