Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Policewoman’s Discipline

Su Yi quickly blew past the hulking Kuranta thugs and caught up to the blue-haired dragon girl in front.

"Get in."

He shoved open the passenger door and waved her over.

Ch'en Hui-chieh glanced back at the pursuers, then—gritting her teeth—climbed into the passenger seat and buckled up.

Seeing their target about to escape, the enraged thugs shouted, "If you've got the guts, don't run!"

The van, which had been about to speed off, seemed to take that personally. It actually slowed to a stop—then suddenly reversed at high speed and lunged toward them.

The Kuranta men scattered in panic, hands over their heads. No one dared to "parry" a move like that.

"Just another day of playing hero and saving a damsel," Su Yi muttered.

He shifted back into drive, cut onto a different street, then turned his head. "All right. You're safe now."

"Th-thank you… I never thought the day would come when I'd be rescued by a Penguin Logistics employee," Ch'en said, forcing the words out while she fought the drug in her system—and the raw, primal craving it was dredging up.

Penguin Logistics staff were easy to recognize. They all wore the same black-and-white uniform as their "cultured gentleman," Emperor.

"It's nothing. I couldn't exactly watch you die," Su Yi replied.

Then he paused and asked, "Are you okay?"

A moment ago his attention had been completely on driving. Only now did he notice something was very wrong with the blue-haired dragon girl beside him.

Her breathing was heavy. Those ruby eyes looked unfocused and unmistakably suggestive. Her cherry-red lips were parted as she exhaled scorching breaths again and again.

A feverish flush spread unnaturally across skin pale as snow. A few strands of blue hair clung damply to her forehead. Below a swan-white neck, her collarbones were delicate and sharply defined, like carved jade.

Her fists were clenched. Her long legs—tight in denim—were pressed together as though she were suppressing something with sheer will. Her expression was twisted, somewhere between pain and desire.

"Ahem. I'm fine. I can still hold it back. Consider it training," Ch'en said awkwardly, clearing her throat. "Please take me to Lungmen First People's Hospital."

It helped that she was Ch'en—raised from childhood under Wei Yenwu's sword tutelage, her will honed into something that drove forward without hesitation, unbreakable as tempered steel.

Resolve could not be stolen from her. A thousand thoughts could not shake her mind.

A mere aphrodisiac might crush her combat effectiveness for a short while, but it still wasn't enough to truly make her lose control.

For another woman in the same situation—let alone sitting next to a hot-blooded man—she suspected that even a ballpoint pen, a cucumber… even a chili pepper might be enough to shatter what was left of her reason.

"Fine," Su Yi said.

Just as he was about to pull up navigation for the hospital, Ch'en's curiosity got the better of her. She tilted her head, wanting to get a good look at the face of her savior.

The instant she saw him clearly, the fragile thread of sanity she had been clinging to snapped clean in two.

"I'm sorry…"

"Hm?"

Su Yi turned his head—

—and his mouth was sealed by two soft, fragrant lips.

"???"

Weren't you the one who said you could hold it back?!

Under Ch'en's fierce, desperate, all-in kiss—reckless, forgetful of everything, as if she had nothing to lose—Su Yi's "lower house" became increasingly insistent.

Just as the lower house was about to stage a coup and take over the upper house—just as the two of them were about to become inseparably… acquainted—something fell out of Ch'en's pocket.

A badge.

A Lungmen Guard Department badge.

You're a cop and you didn't say so sooner…

"It might hurt a bit. Bear with it."

Su Yi went instantly cold and rational. He drew his revolver and fired a rubber round straight into Ch'en's head, stopping her from "burning up" any further.

People on Terra were generally tough—let alone a police officer who had just jumped off the fifth floor without so much as a scratch.

A hit like this would only knock her out temporarily.

"She bit my lip raw," Su Yi muttered.

He touched his mouth. His fingertips came away smeared with dark red blood mixed with saliva. He wiped it off on Ch'en's clothes without ceremony, then drove straight to the hospital.

"Hello, yes—I've got a patient who needs urgent medical attention. The delivery might be late… Yes, yes. Thank you for understanding."

At the End of the Earth.

Three Penguin Logistics employees, their shifts finished, sat at the bar with drinks in hand.

"Why is Su Yi so slow…? The apple pie's going to get cold! Didn't he say he only had one package left?" Exusiai complained.

The girl's codename was Exusiai; her real name was Lemuel. A Sankta with short, flame-red hair and a fit, balanced figure.

Even in the dead of winter, she wore nothing but a light top and shorts, showing off a pair of smooth, luminous legs—plump and perfect.

Normally she was bursting with energy. Right now she looked like a balloon that had been punctured, no matter how hard she tried to puff herself back up.

To her left sat Texas—a gray Lupo with a cool, detached expression, a Pocky stick between her lips. Black hair, orange eyes, refined features. Thick dark pantyhose hugged her lower body—neither too much nor too little, exactly right.

Unlike Exusiai, Texas had already bundled up in a white, fleece-lined hooded messenger sweater from Cambrian, looking sharp and self-possessed.

"Yeah. I'm already back," someone chimed in.

The speaker was Croissant—Kuranta, female, appearance description… omitted.

"Texas, why aren't you saying anything? Su Yi was the one you picked up from Chernobog," Exusiai said.

"He's not going to get lost," Texas replied flatly.

As they spoke, Su Yi—who looked like he'd gone from "factory new" to "battle-worn veteran" in a single day—slouched into the bar, utterly dejected.

What kind of person was that…? On the phone they said it was fine, then they turned around and filed a complaint.

Who would've thought that even after getting isekai'd, he'd still end up revisiting middle school biology from the standard textbook—Chapter Two: Recognizing the Diversity of Living Things.

"Su Yi, what happened to your mouth?!" Exusiai demanded, noticing immediately.

His lips were swollen and split, the skin broken; there were faint red marks on his face as well.

"Did those gangsters rough you up?" Croissant guessed.

Texas silently tightened her grip on the hilt of the Originium blade at her waist.

"My body might be a bit weak, but my shooting is excellent. How could some petty gangsters do anything to me?" Su Yi snapped.

"Then what happened?" Exusiai pressed.

"…I tripped while walking," Su Yi said after a beat.

"Pff!"

"Pff!"

"Croissant, why are you laughing?" Su Yi asked.

"I just remembered something happy. We got paid today."

Croissant: Hold it in… hold it in… but… but how could anyone hold it in when it's this funny?

"And you, Exusiai?" Su Yi asked.

"I… I got paid today too!" she said.

"What a coincidence," Su Yi said, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Me too. Since we're all so aligned, why don't the three of us swear brotherhood and become sworn siblings?"

Penguin Logistics had always paid on the first of every month—and they paid the current month's salary, never late.

Emperor was confident. With benefits like his, no employee would ever take the money and run.

And, in fact, that confidence wasn't misplaced. Inside Penguin Logistics, everyone was family—no distinctions, no distance.

"I don't really care," Croissant said, glancing at Exusiai with meaning. "I'm just worried someone doesn't want to be your little sister."
