Chapter 27 - Chapter - 26

THIRD PERSON POV

Inside Class 1-A, the students were buzzing with a mixture of anxiety and excitement. After a morning of mundane core subjects, the period everyone had been waiting for, Hero Basic Training was finally here.

Suddenly, the heavy door was snatched open with a force that made the doors groan.

"I AM... COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A NORMAL PERSON!"

All Might burst into the room, his cape fluttering behind him, his signature grin practically illuminating the back rows. He leaned into the room at a sharp angle, striking a pose that defied the laws of physics (or bio, I dunno).

The class erupted.

"It's All Might!" Kaminari cheered, leaning forward. "Wow, he really is a teacher!"

"Look at that costume!" Kirishima added, his eyes sparkling. "It's from his Silver Age era! It's giving me goosebumps!"

The awe was thick enough to choke on. The "Symbol of Peace" stood by the door, basking in the admiration of the next generation. It was a perfect, cinematic moment of hero-student bonding until it was violently interrupted.

"DAMN IT! I MISSED IT!"

A second shout, arguably louder and definitely grumpier than All Might's, echoed from the hallway. A second later, Riko Akabane skidded into the doorway, her uniform blazer flying open and her hair a mess of strands. She looked absolutely devastated.

"damn…I missed the entry" she panted, clutching the doorframe and looking up at the towering hero.

All Might blinked, his heroic posture faltering just a fraction as he looked down at the girl who was currently mourning a missed entrance. "Ah... Young Akabane. You were... in the restroom?"

"The timing was all wrong dammit!" Riko cried, throwing her hands up in the air. "I've been waiting days to see your entrance! And my bladder chooses now to declare an emergency?! My life is a series of poorly timed jokes" (author - "I wash my hands off this")

The class stared at her with a collective sweat-drop.

"She really is something else," Jiro muttered, shaking her head.

"Akabane-san, please compose yourself!" Iida barked, his arm chopping the air. "It is disrespectful to yell at the Symbol of Peace about your... personal emergencies!"

"Let it go, Iida," Bakugo grunted from his seat, though he was smirking. "The Fuse-box is just mad she wasn't the loudest person in the room for once."

"Shut up, Sparky!" Riko snapped, finally trudging over to her seat in the back. She magnanimously decided to name the 'Support Character' corner, and sulk.

All Might cleared his throat, his grin returning to its full, blinding wattage. "Right! Well! Moving on! Today's lesson is Hero Basic Training! And for that, you'll need these!"

He pointed to the wall, where several panels slid open to reveal numbered suitcases. "Costumes based on the Quirk registries and request forms you sent in before school started!"

The room was filled with a new wave of excitement. This was it. The moment they got one step closer to being heroes.

"Change and meet me at Ground Beta!" All Might boomed. "Remember, from today on, you are heroes-in-training!"

GROUND BETA: TEN MINUTES LATER

The tunnel leading to the urban training zone echoed with the sound of footsteps. As the students emerged into the sunlight, All Might stood waiting, his hands on his hips. He looked over the group, nodding in approval at the diverse array of colors and designs.

All Might declared. "Be aware... from now on... you are heroes!"

He scanned the crowd. There was Iida in his sleek, silver armour; Uraraka in her aerodynamic pink-and-black suit; and Midoriya, who looked like a green bunny version of the Symbol of Peace himself.

Then, his eyes landed on Riko.

All Might's grin twitched. A cold sweat-drop rolled down the back of his neck as he remembered the headache Riko had caused the U.A. Support Department.

Riko stepped out of the shadows, and the look was... striking.

She wore a vibrant yellow-and-orange tactical vest over a sleek, high-durability orange and yellow bodysuit. A utility belt was slung low across her hips, packed with specialised pouches that clinked with the sound of metal. She had heavy-duty black combat boots and gloves with reinforced knuckles. Perched atop her head was a pair of yellow-tinted, high-tech goggles, and a high collar shielded her neck.

It was the "Rex Splode" look, refined for the modern age.

"Riko-chan, next time maybe go easy on the details"

Detailed was an understatement, She had really gone overboard with it, All Might thought. He vividly remembered walking past the Support Department's workshop last week. The lead engineers had been hunched over a series of blueprints that looked like they had been drafted by a master draftsman.

Riko hadn't just sent a "request form." She had sent a thirty-page technical manual. Every seam, every pocket, she wanted built into her vest had been mapped out, she had even sent them, multiple poses drawn for reference.

The Support Team had literally started framing her drawings. Power Loader had been found crying in a corner, clutching a sketch of her glove's blueprint. "A dream client!" they had wailed. "She knows what a designer needs! She understands the beauty of line weight and form! We didn't have to guess what 'cool-looking'! meant like the other trash who vaguely describe concepts, leaving us to figure out the rest, she is our dream client "

"I wanted to make sure the mechanics were sound," Riko said, adjusting her goggles with a smirk. " If I'm going to be blowing things up, need to look cool. Plus, the goggles are polarised. Good for looking at explosions."

"I... see," All Might replied, still reeling from the fact that a fifteen-year-old had provided blueprints better than most Pro Heroes.

He turned his attention back to the class. "Alright! You all look the part! Now, let's see if you can act the part! Today, we will be doing Indoor Battle Trials! A two-on-two battle between Villains and Heroes!"

"Nice goggles, Fuse-box," Bakugo grumbled, stomping past her. "At least they'll hide the tears when you're stuck looking at my back on my way to Number One."

Riko didn't miss a beat. Her thumb hovered over a steel pellet in her pouch, her hands itching.

"Keep dreaming, Sparky," she retorted, flashing a grin, "cool mask though, makes you look like a raccoon that broke into a military surplus store."

"HUH YOU P-" Bakugo started, but was cut off by All Might getting everyone's attention by slamming two boxes with a thud. One marked 'Hero' and one marked 'Villain.'

"Now! Let's determine the teams!"

The air in Ground Beta crackled with tension. Riko felt her heart racing from pure excitement

THIRD PERSON POV

The pairing process was a whirlwind of plastic lots and booming announcements. All Might stood before the class, his hand emerging from the 'Villain' box with a slip of paper.

"Next up! Team E, as the Heroes, will face Team I as the Villains!" All Might announced, gesturing to the board.

Team E: Akabane Riko & Yaoyorozu Momo (Villains)

Team I: Todoroki Shoto & Ojiro Mashirao (Heroes)

Riko glanced at Momo, who was already tapping her chin in deep thought. Then, she looked over at Todoroki. The dual-haired boy didn't even look back; he was staring at the building floor plans with a chillingly calm expression.

"Well," Riko muttered, clicking her goggles into place. "what do you think momo-chan"

"We shouldn't underestimate them, Akabane-san," Momo said seriously. "Todoroki-san entered through recommendations. His tactical prowess is likely formidable."

"Oh, I know exactly how formidable he is," Riko replied under her breath.
