Chapter 2 - Warmth

I opened my eyes to a bright forest. Or maybe its a city.

The view keeps on changing.

Sometimes it's a lush green forest, sometimes it's a city , murky and dirty.

"Hehe you can tell it's an illusion"

A soft laughing voice came from somewhere.

I sat up from where I was lying.

My surroundings kept on changing. It was nauseating.

I thought I would puke.

I did puked.

" Even an undead can puke? That's something new."

I wasn't fully an undead. I was something less and something more.

The voice continued to laugh in a soft and adorable tone.

The landscape continued to shift.

"Hey so tell me, what's your dream? "

The voice asked in a calm tone "only those who have the strength to dream can come here, so tell me what is your dream?" It continued.

"My dream..."

I knew I had a dream.

I definitely did.

It wasn't mine but i inherited it so I belonged to me.

"You can't remember can you "

The voice said.

"Tee heee heee" laughter emerged from my surroundings.

"What a foolish creature you are. You dreamed of something and you forgot it. What a stupid and ungrateful little creature you are.

Blessed are those who can dream. And you forgot that dream. Tee hee haaaaa"

The laughter was loud. It felt like my head would split apart just from hearing it.

" I know what you dreamed of. I know why you can't remember it , do you want me to tell you?"

I nodded. I wanted to know.

"Tee hee I WON'T TELL YOU." The voice said. "I don't want to tell you . It's so much fun seeing you confused." The voice proclaimed.

"Can you atleast tell me where I am? "

"Ofcourse ofcourse, it's the least I can do.

You are in my forest. Half of you is, the other half is still dreaming. It's upto you to decide which half is your reality undead. "

"....I want the reality where I can remember my dream"

" eh? Well if you want to remember your dream why don't you go take it back? You know who has your dream. "

The voice disappeared.

I was left alone.

The world continued to shift. Slowly I felt like waking up. The world was throbbing to the beat of my heart. In the sky the sun shone brightly and the moon looked down upon me.

I stood up. And just as I did it stopped.

Everything was now clear.

It was neither a city nor a forest.

It was a house.

A small humble house in which I lived. Or so I remember.

It is a strech to say that I 'lived' , but i definitely existed in this house. I know that.

I took a step towards the exit.

My dream... I had to get it back.

But from where?

Where did I lose it .

Ah it clicked.

It was eaten.

Eaten by that man who ate me.

That's must've been where my dream is.

I had to get it back so I went closer to the exit.

Door knob felt cold , eerily cold but i know there's no danger in opening it.

I opened the door and took a step outside.

The streets where madness was found in every corner. Where suffering was a little more common than breathing Air. Or maybe less common since most of those who could breathe are now dead.

I started to walk towards the prison I was kept in.

I forgot why I was kept there.

Or maybe I didn't want to remember. Either way it didn't matter.

The kingdom is already on the brink of destruction.

Crimes don't matter when there's no one to judge.

The road the prison was empty, eerily so.

Everyone has either gone mad and left , or died at the hands of those who went mad.

The gate of the prison was large. Extremely large. It was opened from the inside, likely due to one of the prisoners.

The metal hinges had something akin to organs hanging off of them from what seemed to be an aftermath of a fight.

I stepped into the prison walking over a puddle of my own blood.

After dying here once I had my strength as an undead increase by a slight amount.

"Aaaaaahhhhh"

The screams continued on as I roamed about.

I wasn't trying to find that man yet.

I would just die without weapons to fight with.

A sword would be nice but a dagger should work too.

I roamed and roamed, only seeing blood and battered corpses around me.

I didn't enter inside the main building , it would only lead to me getting trapped.

What i wanted was the armory.

My body was getting cold . The sun was out but it still felt cold.

But why did it feels cold?

I didn't know.

But i continued to move ahead.

The corpses grew in numbers as my senses started to ring at a violent pace. Everything was shaking. I couldn't feel my own self anymore.

There was a fear of death that I had never felt before. But why? Why?

What was there that could be causing this? I wonder to myself.

Or rather who.

I continued to think and the longer I did, the colder it got until I realised I was frozen.

My body covered in ice.

And then,

"Hello! May I ask your name kind sir?"

Voice called out to me from behind.
