Chapter 12 - Devil Contract

After a long while of tense conversation with the president, the group finally received news about Baek Ji-soo's condition from the nurse who had been taking care of her since she collapsed.

'There's no need to worry. Your friend is in good hands,' the nurse said gently, offering them a warm, reassuring smile. 'Student Baek has already regained consciousness. You may visit her now in her room.' Her calm words eased their racing hearts, and a wave of relief washed over the group.

After hearing the nurse's words, they all rushed toward Ji-soo's room, their faces lit with excitement and relief. They pushed the door open, but before it could fully swing wide, they caught sight of her hiding beneath the blanket. Amelia quickly closed the door again and turned to the others. 'Wait outside,' she said firmly. 'Let me talk with her alone.'

Ten minutes passed, yet they were still standing outside the room, waiting for Amelia to call them in. The silence in the hallway only made their worries grow. 'It's been ten minutes since she went inside,' Obi whispered, turning to Daigo with a concerned look on his face. 'Do you think she's okay?'

Just as Obi finished speaking, the door slowly opened, and Amelia stepped out. She looked at them and gently motioned for them to come closer. 'Guys, you can come in now, but please keep your voices down, alright?' she whispered.

Daigo and Obi entered the room slowly, their eyes fixed on Ji-soo as she lay on the bed. Worry tightened their chests with every step. Daigo moved closer and spoke softly, his voice full of concern. 'How are you feeling? Does anything hurt?'

"I'm fine, everyone. You really don't need to worry about me that much!" Ji-soo said in her usual sturntone, trying to sound normal, as if nothing bad had happened at all. But beneath her calm voice, a quiet tension lingered in the air.

Obi innocently believes that nothing is wrong and assumes that she just had a tiny shock after hearing Wyatt's condition, 'Ji-soo, you really make us worry about you, you know! But It a good news that you are okay.' Obi said with a bright smile.

On the other hand, Daigo felt something was wrong about Ji-soo, and he quickly took Amelia outside, leave them two of them in the room while he asked Amelia what had happened to Ji-soo.'Amelia, what is really going on with her? But Amelia is still trying to play it off as if nothing happened.

"What do you mean, Daigo? She is fine, there's nothing to worry about," said Amelia with a confident face.

"Come on, Amelia, spit it out! I know something is going on with her; she can fool Obi, but not me! Said angrily toward Amelia for hiding something about Ji-soo from him. After hearing Daigo shout at her for lying, with a heavy hearted she quickly tells Daigo about her condition and what happened to them while alone in the room.

"When we're alone in the room, I said something to her, but she didn't respond to my words at all. Then I tried to touch her, but she quickly pulled away from me," said Amelia with a sad expression.

Then she continued telling Daigo what happened, and after telling him about Ji-soo, Amelia finished it off by saying that Ji-soo have some mental issue that she is not sure what it is. Both of their expressions turned into concern about Ji-soo's condition.

After talking for a while, they both went back to the room with normal expressions and started a conversation with her with a smile on their face.

An hour passed before the president's secretary knocked on the door, informing Amelia and Daigo that the president had summoned them to his office.

Daigo blinked in surprise at the unexpected summons.

"What? Why is the president asking for us?" he asked, his face filled with confusion.

After receiving the unexpected summons, Amelia and Daigo made their way to the president's office in uneasy silence. Neither of them knew why they had been called, but the weight of the moment hung heavily in the air.

The moment they stepped inside, they found the president already waiting for them behind his desk. His usual warm demeanour was nowhere to be seen. Instead, a stern, unreadable expression rested upon his face, causing the atmosphere in the room to grow noticeably heavier.

"Please, have a seat, both of you," he said, gesturing toward the chairs as he held two sheets of paper.

Each document was a contract bearing either Daigo's or Amelia's name, waiting for both of their signature.

The president rested both hands on the contracts before speaking.

"In my hands are two contracts, one for each of you." His voice was calm, almost reassuring. "Whether you sign them or not is entirely your decision."

He paused for a brief moment, a faint smile slowly curling across his lips.

"However... refusing to sign them will come with consequences."

The room fell into an uneasy silence.

Daigo and Amelia exchanged puzzled glances, unable to decipher what the president truly meant. His words sounded less like a choice and more like a warning.

Unable to contain his curiosity, Daigo finally broke the silence.

"May I read the contract, sir?"

After the president handed the paper to both of them, Amelia, who was scared of her father, stood up out of nowhere and threw the paper at the president while saying,

"I can't believe such an evil monster like you is my father!"

Daigo froze; he had only made it halfway through his own contract, yet Amelia's explosive reaction sent a chill down his spine. His heartbeat quickened as he hurriedly continued reading.

Line after line.

Word after word.

By the time he reached the end, the colour had completely drained from his face.

He could only stare at the contract in stunned silence.
