Chapter 5 - A New Era

A sudden earthquake shook the entire world.

The ground cracked, cities trembled, and the sky roared as if something unseen was tearing reality apart.

Humans panicked.

Some prayed.

Some prepared to fight for survival, not knowing what they were fighting against.

Nyra and Lily already knew.

They were not shocked.

They had been observing everything for days.

This was what they were waiting for.

A new world was about to be born.

The world of humans and the world of magic were about to merge.

Every human from the real world would receive magic.

Swordsmen, elves, demi-humans, demons, and many other races would now exist together.

Elements like fire, water, earth, wind, and more awakened across the land.

After a long time, the earthquake stopped.

The two worlds became one.

The sky filled with strange lights—red, blue, and countless other colors.

They shone like falling stars.

People stood frozen, confused and afraid.

Then a magic spell spread across the merged world.

Memory Translation.

In an instant, everyone understood what was happening.

In a moment, everyone understood what was happening.

Even so, they were shaken by the event.

After a long while, magic began to appear everywhere.

Magic chose its owner on its own.

There were nearly ten billion humans.

About 70–85% received elemental magic—

fire, water, air, or earth.

Around 5–7% received magic tied to weapons.

Swords, katanas, and fighting techniques awakened within them.

The weapons they received matched the magic inside them.

Another 5% received rare powers—

light magic and other special abilities.

But the last group was different.

3% of humans received dark magic.

They were exceptions.

Cruel, dangerous, and feared by both worlds.

They became a threat to all nations.

From the other world, the strongest mage stepped forward.

He was the king of Eldonia.

One of the kings chosen to represent all rulers of the Floria Kingdoms.

A voice echoed across the land.

"I am King Alaric.

Ruler of the Kingdom of Pyronia—the Kingdom of Fire.

The land I come from is Eldonia, the City of Sorcery."

Humans across every land listened.

They watched. The whole day passed slowly, as if the world itself was learning how to breathe again.

Everything that had been happening felt unreal. Races from the other world began to appear—elves, sorcerers, warriors, beings humans had only seen in stories. People crossed borders that no longer truly existed. Some went to the other world, and some stayed, unsure of where they belonged anymore.

The biggest human countries—America, France, India, Japan, and many others—gathered and made a decision together. They chose cooperation over fear. They chose survival.

From each country, the strongest humans were selected. Not heroes, not kings—just those who could stand and represent their people. Ten of them gathered and formed a single group.

They named it "Paradise of Humans."

Not because the world had become peaceful, but because they hoped it someday would.

Humans, sorcerers, warriors, and leaders from both worlds met again. After long discussions, they reached one conclusion:

if the worlds were to survive together, the next generation must grow together.

And so, they decided to create a school.

Not an ordinary one.

Using magic from both worlds, they built it slowly, carefully. The land shifted, mountains flattened, rivers bent their course. When it was finished, the school was so vast it felt like a country of its own.

A place where humans and other races would train side by side.

A place where strength would be earned, not given.

To enroll, one needed resolve.

To stay, one needed discipline.

And to graduate… one needed the will to face the Demon King.

It was a long road. A painful one.

Arin listened to all of this quietly.

He felt happy—but confused.

Excited—but afraid.

What if I can't become strong?

What if I'm left behind again? That night, his fire flickered in his palm—small, unstable, barely alive.

He clenched his fist and the flame vanished.

So this is all I have, he thought.

Behind him, Nyra watched silently.

From the window, Lily observed the sky.

Neither of them spoke.

They knew something Arin didn't.

When the worlds merged, magic chose its owners—but some magic was never meant to choose.

Some was given.

Light slept deep within Arin.

Darkness rested even deeper.

But his body was fragile.

His will was wounded.

So only fire answered him.

For now.

Nyra turned away.

"Not yet," she whispered.

Lily closed her eyes.

"He'll break if he knows."

Outside, the sky glowed with colors no human had names for.

A new era had begun—

and Arin stood at its center, unaware.

Siho and the others went to the academy early in the morning.

Everyone was curious, but also calm. Most of them already understood their own emotions.

Today was the day their ranks would be measured.

Based on the results, they would be placed into different classes.

In Eloria, power was divided into ranks:

Rank S

Rank A

Rank B

Rank C

Rank D

Rank E

And the lowest — Rank F

However, not everyone was bound by this system.

There were exceptions.

Some magicians could not be measured by ordinary ranks.

Their power did not fit into S or F.

No matter the result, it could never show their true strength.

These beings were known as the Pillars of Elonia.

There were seven Pillars in total.

They were considered the strongest existence in the Eloria Kingdom.

There was even a saying:

"Among the seven, two or three are stronger than the rest combined."

Their strength was said to rival even the 20th Greatest Demon King.

For a long time, they had stood above nations, above races —

almost like gods.
