Chapter 41: Inescapable!
"Me? Spar with you?"
King was a bit confused. In the original story, Genos had foolishly challenged Saitama to a spar and ended up being scared witless by a single punch.
After transmigrating, King had accidentally taken Genos as a disciple. Now, this guy wanted to spar with him instead? Was this the result of the timeline converging?
Genos looked dead serious. His eyes were filled with unwillingness regarding his own weakness as he clenched his fists tightly.
"King-sensei! After the last battle, I realized just how weak I am. I also understood your teaching: Actual combat is the sole criterion for testing truth!
"If I want to keep getting stronger, I must fight stronger opponents. And you, Sensei, are the strongest person I have ever met. Please spar with me! You can go for the kill if you want! But please, use your full strength!"
Seeing Genos's resolute expression, King felt a headache coming on.
He wasn't afraid of Genos's challenge. He was afraid he would misjudge Genos's durability, use a tiny bit too much force, and accidentally reduce his disciple to spare parts.
The current "Budget-Burning Warrior" was simply too weak. So weak that if King genuinely wanted to kill him, a flick of his finger would shatter his entire body.
But looking at Genos's determination, King knew that if he refused, this cyborg would stick to him like chewing gum and pester him daily.
"Fine, fine. Let me call someone else over too."
King waved his hand and dialed a number.
A hint of fighting spirit flashed in King's eyes as well. Surging Qi and blood roared within him like a turbulent sea, and his aura changed abruptly.
Just as Genos wanted to challenge the strong to improve himself, King was starting to have the same idea.
He really wanted to know: after becoming so much stronger, could he withstand one of Caped Baldy's Normal Punches?
Even if he couldn't, it didn't matter. The Caped Baldy wouldn't kill him. At worst, he'd be crippled for two seconds before regenerating.
Wilderness, Far from the City.
Yellow sand filled the air, drifting lazily over an endless expanse of barren earth.
In the middle of this yellow wasteland, three figures stood facing each other.
On the left was a young man with sharp blond hair and a white sleeveless shirt, exposing mechanical parts all over his body.
In the center stood a tall man with long blond hair reaching his shoulders. His majestic, domineering face, coupled with three jagged scars over his left eye, exuded a terrifying, intimidating aura.
And on the right was a man constantly checking his watch, his shiny bald head reflecting the sun.
"King, are we cutting it a bit close? We have to be at Old Man Bang's dojo in two hours. What if we're late and he doesn't give us the A6 Wagyu beef?"
Facing Saitama's worry, King patted his shoulder.
"Don't worry. These two spars should be over very quickly."
Yes, very quickly.
Because in both fights, the difference in power levels was astronomical.
Genos vs. King: A foregone conclusion.
King vs. Saitama: Also a foregone conclusion.
"Alright, you two fight first. I'll watch from the side."
Saying this, Saitama pulled a manga out of nowhere. With a flicker, he reappeared on top of a distant mountain peak where the dust pollution wasn't as bad, lying down to read comfortably.
Watching Saitama lazily reading manga on the mountain top, King nodded at Genos.
"You may begin."
Hearing this, Genos's expression instantly became incredibly serious. The core in his chest burst with brilliant blue light, and every component in his body surged with power.
He raised both hands. His arms shifted and transformed, turning into complex cannons. Violent energy gathered in the muzzles, glowing with a crimson light.
"Please enlighten me, King-sensei! Overclocked Incineration Cannon!!"
Genos didn't hold back. He used his ultimate move right from the start.
Facing the unfathomable Strongest Man on Earth, he dared not be careless.
A violent beam of orange light, crackling with lightning, shot forward. It scorched the earth wherever it passed, carrying chilling momentum as it rushed toward King in the blink of an eye.
Facing an attack strong enough to obliterate most Demon-level monsters and even injure Dragon-level ones, King simply stood still.
When the beam was less than a meter away, he casually slapped it aside.
Genos's full-power ultimate move was swatted away like a fly.
The Overclocked Incineration Cannon slammed into the sand dunes, kicking up a massive cloud of dust, but it failed to affect King in the slightest.
A faint green psychic shield wrapped around King's body, blocking the flying debris.
Genos knew his ultimate move likely wouldn't harm King, but he didn't expect it to be slapped away so casually.
With a loud shout, he activated his thrusters. Propelled by flames, he left a trail of fire and vanished from his spot.
In a flash of lightning, Genos appeared behind King. His arms moved at extreme speed, unleashing a storm of punches.
"Machine Gun Blows!"
King spun around abruptly. Facing the airborne Genos, he raised his right hand.
Bad news!!
Genos's mechanical eyes constricted. He instinctively thought King was about to attack him while he was vulnerable in the air.
Since I can't dodge now... I have to neutralize it with full-force offense!
His thrusters fired at maximum output, increasing his punching speed to a new level.
However, King didn't attack as Genos expected. Instead, he stood his ground, his right hand moving in a blur.
Every single rapid-fire punch Genos threw was effortlessly caught or parried by King, dealing zero damage.
Are you kidding me?!
As yet another punch was easily caught, a sharp glint flashed in Genos's eyes. The fist King was holding suddenly erupted with blinding light.
"Incinerate!"
This was Genos's plan all along.
Realizing that every punch would be precisely caught, he devised a countermeasure.
While King was in contact with his fist, he would fire an Incineration blast at point-blank range, making it inescapable!
