The morning breeze drifted across the academy courtyard as the bells rang through the halls. Students hurried inside for their lessons. Seyana walked calmly to Class Hall A and sat in her usual second-row seat. Raksha waved excitedly from beside her.
"Good morning!"
Seyana returned a soft smile. "Good morning."
The professor lectured about mana flow and elemental mixing. When the bell rang with the end of class, students headed toward the practical grounds. The instructors formed pairs.
Raksha instantly grabbed Seyana's hand. "You're my partner. Don't even think of escaping."
Seyana laughed lightly. They practiced together, fire against water, shaping spells in the air.
Raksha's flames shines brightly, while Seyana's water formed gentle spirals that floated like living streams.
"Your magic is beautiful," Raksha whispered.
Seyana lowered her eyes with shy.
During lunch, the cafeteria roared with noise. Raksha and Seyana found a corner table. Raksha leaned in and whispered, "Don't look right away, but Kairos is staring at you."
Seyana didn't turn. Her cheeks already knew.
Across the courtyard, Kairos sat with two boys named Luna and Velanor. They were laughing loudly at some joke until Velanor caught Kairos staring at Seyana.
"Ohh, look who fell in love."
Kairos nearly choked. "Shut up."
Luna chuckled softly. "Stop bullying him."
But that didn't stop Kairos from looking again.
Soon, Luna waved and the three boys approached the table.
"Mind if we sit here together?" Luna asked politely.
Seyana nods, trying to look calm.
Velanor and Raksha immediately got into an argument about whose elemental magic was stronger, Luna observed them with quiet gaze, and Kairos… pretended to eat normally with small glances at Seyana.
Seyana kept her eyes on her food, but she could feel his attention like warmth.
Raksha whispered from the corner of her mouth, "He looks at you like you're the only person alive."
Seyana's heart become uncontrollable.
After classes, Seyana sat near sunlight in library, reading silently.
A chair across from her dragged on the floor softly.
Kairos sat down.
"Can I sit here?"
"You already did," she answered without looking up.
He laughed quietly, then opened a book, even though he didn't turn a single page. Seyana tried to focus on her own, but silence between them felt like an invisible bond.
Kairos finally spoke, voice low.
"From now on… I'll call you Seyana. Not princess."
Her eyes lifted in surprise. It was such a simple promise, yet it felt cute to princess.
"Thank you," she whispered.
The library closed. Kairos, Seyana, Raksha, Luna, and Velanor walked back across the courtyard. Raksha and Velanor kept arguing about spell efficiency.
Luna smiled quietly, watching everyone. Kairos and Seyana walked side by side without speaking, but the space between them felt full. Later, at her balcony, Seyana watched the moon.
Her fingers slowly pressed against her chest as she whispered.
"Why do I feel like this when I'm near him?"
She didn't know answer.
For the first time in her life, she wanted something.
