Chapter 8 - CHAPTER 8: THE TEST

"Okay guy, how was it with Raven, do you like her?" asked Sigi.

"We just talked about this and that," replied Ivar.

"Um hum, so you like her, that's good; but unfortunately for you, she's Lucy's roommate and I'm sure she'll be happy to ruin all your chances with this girl," added Sigi.

"Maybe, yeah, but I think Raven will figure out what she wants to do," said Ivar.

"So what, you're forgetting that it's possible the girl isn't interested, and even if she was, you'd end up messing everything up like you always do, old man," Sigi added.

"Yeah, you might be right anyway, I didn't come for the girls," Ivar sighed.

"Come on, stop lying. We both know that when it comes to girls, you're great at getting noticed and appreciated by them, but you're really bad at actually getting them to go out with you," Ivar explained.

"It's true that I'm not always lucky when it comes to getting into a relationship, but this time it's different; first of all, it's true that Raven interests me and if I were more open and told girls what I wanted maybe I wouldn't be so alone;

"And you see that's the difference. I've already resigned myself to staying alone for the next two years, or even for all the years to come," Ivar replied.

"Oh, that's tough, man. You've resigned yourself to your fate, I see; anyway, I always told you that you'll end up as the cool uncle to my children." Sigi then said, laughing.

"Ha ha, very funny..."

"But seriously…"

"he slept…"

"Damn, man, we're going to be late for the first day of classes," said Ivar.

"We're not doing so badly, if we fly at full speed, we wouldn't even arrive early," replied Sigi.

"Of course, except that they had decided not to draw attention to us," Ivar sighed.

"Anyway, we'll definitely get noticed when everyone sees our file, we're S-rank bro," added Sigi.

"I know that, but I wanted to at least stay out of the spotlight for a while," Ivar replied, sounding disappointed.

"So you just have to stay back, man, come on, let's go, match 3," said Sigi.

"At least we're not going at full speed," replied Ivar.

They took flight and crossed the campus in seconds. They will head towards the training ground located at the foot of Yggdrasil.

In front of the sign that indicated "Superhuman Training Ground," there was nothing more than a diving board overlooking a void, and next to it, one could read "100km downwards. JUMP."

"It looks like we're going to have to jump," said Sigi.

"I imagine that's how he evaluates physical superhumans," Ivar replied.

"And we who enrolled in the physical field thinking it would be easy, it's not going to be easy at all," said Sigi.

Other people began to gather in front of what could be compared to a diving board except that underneath were the ruins of ancient cities.

No one dared to make the first move, and even those who could fly didn't attempt anything.

"And then screw it, I'm going," said Sigi before jumping into the void.

"Well, goodbye to discretion," added Ivar, who jumped right after his brother.

"It looks like we have at least two promising youngsters," said a man who was flying a few meters above them.

"Hello everyone, I am the Delta instructor and this is the admission test for the transcendent physical type, and only the two young men will be able to use their flying abilities after 50,000 meters and all the others will have to rely on the robustness of their bodies.

"If you feel you might die during this fall, you should just apply to another field," the instructor then said.

"AH yeah, we can fly for 50000 meters? You should have said so sooner." said Ivar, emerging from the void.

"Sir instructor, I have a question," Sigi also asked.

"You can put it down, kid," the instructor replied.

"If I dash down at full speed and survive, could I skip today's class?" asked Sigi.

"Of course you can even be absent for the next two days," replied the instructor with a broad smile on his face.

"Understood," replied Ivar and Sigi.

The two superhumans detach themselves from the university of the transcendents; in an instant, they move at match 5, slicing through the air with a violence and speed that defy all human perception. The air compresses around them, forming incandescent halos, blue and silver, that stretch behind them like the trail of a living comet.

Friction with the atmosphere produced intense heat, illuminating the high altitude, while air vortices formed in its wake. As they approached the ground, mountains, forests, and the buildings of the abandoned city were revealed before their eyes, while their incandescent trail still sliced through the air. They touched down with perfect precision, raising a blast capable of uprooting trees, the final echo of their thunderous fall.

It took them only a minute to descend the 100 km and they headed back in the opposite direction, the dust and air vortices creating a luminous arc behind them, while the supersonic rumbles resonate, they disappear towards the sky, leaving behind a breath and a trail of light that tears through the atmosphere.

"See you tomorrow, instructor," said Sigi, followed by Ivar before heading towards the dormitory.

"Hum, you bunch of dirty kids, what are you waiting for? Come on! Jump!!" shouted the instructor.

"Ivar! Where are we going now?" asked Sigi.

"Lucy is at the mind room for her text and Raven is 40 kilometers away, at the arcane university," Ivar replied.

"I'll go get Lucy and you go get Raven, we'll meet back at the starting village," Sigi then proposed.

"No problem," replied Ivar.
