Chapter 29 - Recruitment

The Ghost Buddha's hunger message came from his mind, and Jiang Yan reached out and grabbed a handful of buddha crystals.

'Judging by the food eaten before, one person can only be converted into two buddha crystals.'

He turned to Dong Guangjie and Han Qi: "You two take the rest to research and distribute to the people below. Everyone must be equipped with at least three buddha crystals."

"Yes!" Han Qi nodded and began distributing the buddha crystals with Dong Guangjie.

Jiang Yan glanced at the Ghost Buddha and gave it an order: 'Go to the surrounding cities to fill your stomach, handle things discreetly, and don't cause trouble.'

The Ghost Buddha's figure disappeared after receiving the order.

The reason it went to the neighboring cities was that, in Jiang Yan's view, the locals were all 'volunteers' for his lab and couldn't be wasted on the Ghost Buddha.

After giving these instructions, Jiang Yan left. Dong Guangjie was now in charge of the laboratory, so he didn't need to constantly supervise it.

With the experiment initiated, batches of white mice and monkeys began to be sent to Nanfeng Manor.

The medical team also arrived and began their work. Jiang Yan's plan was put into action... The day after Jiang Yan returned, a black SUV stopped at the entrance of the Nanfeng Manor villa.

Jiang Yan stood at the villa entrance, waiting, with An Conghao, Han Qi, and Dong Guangjie standing behind him.

The car door opened, and several Bodyguards got out, carrying two black urns.

"Mr. Jiang." A Bodyguard stood before Jiang Yan, holding the urns.

Jiang Yan looked at the two urns, lost in thought. After quietly observing them for a while, Jiang Yan reached out and took the urns.

He carried the boxes to the second floor of the villa, where a table had already been set up.

After placing the two boxes on it, Jiang Yan muttered to himself: "Mom, little sister, don't worry. I will resurrect you soon."

He took out a pack of cigarettes from his pocket, lit one, and took a deep drag.

"Whoosh!" White smoke billowed from his mouth, clouding his eyes.

He rarely smoked before the accident, but now he was gradually falling in love with the feeling, which could alleviate his somewhat empty emotions.

At night, behind a bar in Liuyang City, three burly men with tattoos and buzz cuts were sitting on the ground smoking. They were members of the local gang who guarded the place.

One of the burly men said with a lewd grin: "That Yue'er who just arrived yesterday was really fucking awesome; she almost drained me dry."

Another burly man heard this and licked his lips: "Is she really that fierce? I'm going to experience it tonight."

"You'll have to wait in line; it's my turn tonight!" The thinner man beside him said with a smug smile.

As the men were bragging, a strong man wearing a mask walked towards them.

Pfft pfft pfft!

As he passed the men, the man suddenly pulled out a tranquilizer gun from his pocket and quickly shot all three of them.

"Fuck!" The three men's expressions changed, and they stood up, shouting, trying to run towards the bar. However, after only a few steps, their legs gave out, and they collapsed, falling into a state of anesthesia.

Screech!

As they fell, a white minivan with fake plates sped around the corner and screeched to a halt in front of them!

The car door opened, and several masked strong men got out, directly loaded the people into the van, and the man with the tranquilizer gun followed them into the minivan and left.

The entire process was completed within two minutes.

After all this was done, the minivan drove directly to Nanfeng Manor in the western suburbs. These people would also become 'volunteers' for the laboratory... One week after the Dong Guangjie incident.

Inside a large building in the city center of Taimeng City, Lingzhou Prefecture.

On the tenth-floor hallway, five men in black suits were seated.

Among these men in suits was a strong man with dark circles under his eyes, messy hair, and a tough appearance.

He quietly waited for this Bodyguard interview. If he passed, he could earn a high salary of 13,000 blue star coins per month.

Creak!

The door opened, and an arrogant woman in a black sheer short skirt came out with a list.

She looked at everyone present and said proudly: "Congratulations to all of you for passing the interview. Those whose names I call can now report to the 29th floor."

Everyone present, including Wei Gaocheng with the messy hair, began to get nervous.

The woman began to read out names under the nervous gazes of the crowd: "Ning Guang, Zhuo Jiashi, Ji Haoda, Fang Zhen. The above personnel can report to the 29th floor!"

"Thank you, Secretary Huang, we'll go report now!" The four people whose names were called stood up, their faces beaming with undisguised smiles.

Wei Gaocheng saw that his name was not on the list, so he immediately stood up and asked the woman: "Secretary Huang, why isn't my name there? I remember being first among this group during the test, didn't I?"

Secretary Huang looked at him, her arrogant face showing disdain: "Don't tell me you thought we wouldn't find out you concealed your past as a killer abroad? Our boss doesn't want scum like you with dirty hands. You can go back now."

Wei Gaocheng clenched his fists upon hearing this. He had wasted three or four days to pass the test: "I didn't expect to be rejected just because I was a killer."

If this weren't China, he would have really wanted to kill the woman in front of him.

Secretary Huang saw his clenched fists and a cold sneer appeared on her face: "What, you want to lay a hand on me? This isn't abroad. If you dare to make a move, you'll regret it."

After speaking, she no longer looked at him and walked out, leaving only Wei Gaocheng.

"Sigh!" Wei Gaocheng sighed powerlessly and could only leave.

He walked numbly down the street and casually hailed a taxi back to his small rental room in the old city.

"Beep beep beep!" Just then, his phone rang.

Wei Gaocheng picked it up and saw 'Xiao Lin' displayed on the screen. He forced a smile and answered.

"Hello, Xiao Lin."

A calm female voice came from the other end of the phone: "Gao Cheng, let's break up. Following you, the thought of worrying about daily necessities in the future feels like a nightmare. Coincidentally, my family introduced me to a rich second-generation."

Wei Gaocheng's face stiffened. It was money again. He didn't try to salvage it, nor did he have a habit of being a simp: "Then let's break up. I'm hanging up."

After hanging up the phone, Wei Gaocheng sat in his computer chair. He took out his phone and checked his balance; he still had over three thousand yuan.

"Am I going back to my old profession abroad again?" He looked at the balance on the screen and shook his head helplessly.

He had honed his skills abroad, thinking that returning to China to develop would also land him a good job.

Unexpectedly, those bastards all rejected him once they knew he had been a killer, and now his girlfriend had also left him.

While thinking, he habitually opened the old dark web to see if there was anything interesting.

After browsing for a while, he was quickly attracted by a recruitment notice.

[High-paying recruitment for security personnel! As long as you can fight, starting salary of 150,000 per month!]

Below it was the website's certification, which required a payment of five million blue star coins to obtain, indicating that the publisher had strength.

Wei Gaocheng looked carefully: "Liuyang City? Isn't that right next to my city?"

After only a short while, he immediately took out his phone and began to contact the other party. Since they were posting recruitment on the dark web, he believed they wouldn't care about his identity.

Two days later, a thousand meters to the left of the manor, a base had been cleared of trees, with numerous temporary prefab houses erected.

The ground was leveled and paved with gravel, extending for several kilometers to the road.

A bus drove along the gravel road towards the base. Inside the bus, Wei Gaocheng continuously observed the environment outside.

All he saw were trees and forests, then he turned his head to look inside the bus.

There were only a dozen people in the bus, all of them strong and fierce-looking.

Creak! The bus braked, and the door opened.

The driver turned to the carriage: "We've arrived. Get off."

The crowd said nothing, simply followed suit, and got off the bus into the base.

"It's in such a remote place. It seems this money won't be easy to earn," Wei Gaocheng looked around, lost in thought.

Thump, thump, thump!

Just as he was thinking, a series of footsteps approached.

He looked up to see three burly men in black suits approaching. The leader, in particular, was 1.9 meters tall and extremely muscular.

Han Qi looked at the thirteen people who had arrived and calmly said: "Welcome, everyone, for successfully passing our first round of interviews. We have already investigated the backgrounds of everyone who made it here. Each of you has blood on your hands, which is precisely the talent we need."

Everyone present listened quietly to his words, wondering what trick he was going to pull.

Seeing that everyone was listening quietly, Han Qi showed a satisfied expression: "My name is Han Qi. I won't say much more."

Clap clap!

He clapped his hands, and immediately two Bodyguards from behind the prefab house escorted a tattooed man towards them.

"I'll fuck your mother, Han Qi! How dare you arrest me? My boss won't let you off!" The tattooed man tried to struggle, but his hands were cuffed, and he was being held by two burly men.

"What is he trying to do?" Wei Gaocheng narrowed his eyes, somewhat confused by the scene.

His previous Bodyguard interviews weren't like this. Besides him, everyone else was equally puzzled.

Han Qi looked at them with a cold sneer: "This person is a gang leader from Liuyang City. He usually enjoys bullying men and women and has several murder cases on his hands."

As he spoke, he raised his left hand and waved it. Immediately, two Bodyguards came from behind. One carried a silver suitcase, and the other held a tray with a dagger on it.

The Bodyguard carrying the silver suitcase opened it, revealing neatly arranged blue star coins, each with a denomination of one thousand!

Han Qi smiled and looked at Wei Gaocheng and the others: "Our entry requirement is very simple: stab this person with the dagger to be hired. Once completed, you will receive a 200,000 blue star coins reward!

Of course, if you don't want to, you can leave now, and I'll reimburse your travel expenses."

"Two hundred thousand? Really!" As soon as he finished speaking, a dark-skinned, roughly 1.7-meter tall, strong man spoke.

His eyes were fixed on the box of money; he still hadn't gathered enough tuition for his child's schooling.

Not just him, but everyone, including Wei Gaocheng, stared at the money. Some even swallowed.

As for withdrawing, no one wanted to. These people were either killers, retired soldiers, or engaged in special work, and they were already numb to killing.

Seeing that no one withdrew, Han Qi's smile grew wider. Besides having blood on their hands, these people all shared a common characteristic: they were poor and desperately needed money.

"Who's first!" Han Qi said, smiling, pointing to the knife beside him.

The captured gang leader's face turned pale as he listened to their words. He looked at Han Qi and pleaded: "Brother Qi, don't kill me. I can give you money, I can work for you, please."

Han Qi ignored him.

"I'll go!" Wei Gaocheng was the first to step forward. He walked directly to the dagger, picked it up, and approached the gang leader.

Ignoring his pleas, Wei Gaocheng plunged the knife into his neck.

Pfft!

Blood gushed out, splattering on his face. He had had enough of being penniless.

Now that there was such a high-paying job, he accepted it, even if it meant killing.

The rest of the people behind also took the dagger and stabbed the still-dying leader.

In less than a moment, the leader was stabbed into a hornet's nest, and blood flowed everywhere.

Han Qi quickly said: "Hurry and take him to the laboratory by car, don't waste him."

"Yes!" Two Bodyguards immediately dragged him away.

Inside the prefab house behind them, Jiang Yan and An Conghao sat, watching the interview outside through a camera.

They watched the messy-haired man, who was the first to act, strike fiercely, killing with one blow, without the slightest hesitation.
