Chapter 43 - Paper Scraps on the Mansion Floor

The echo of Selena Harrington's screams still hung in the air, leaving a wake of awkward silence across the gala hall. Julian Caldwell, however, refused to let the atmosphere remain frozen. With a calm stride and an unparalleled star-quality aura, he cut through the crowd, his gaze locked solely on Scarlett.

"Miss Scarlett," Jason whispered, stepping rigidly into Julian's path to block him. "My analysis suggests Mr. Caldwell is currently in high-level 'romantic hero' mode. Per your grandfather's instructions, I must ensure no physical contact compromises the integrity of your gown."

"Move, Jason," Julian said, his voice cold yet elegant. "I'm not in the mood to debate personal boundaries with a bodyguard like you."

"Jason, let him through," Scarlett interrupted softly. Her brown eyes met Julian's, a whirlwind of conflicting emotions swirling within them.
