"Quack quack!"
A pair of ducks quacked while paddling past, their feathers glistening in the light. They threw Lucille a curious glance for a moment. Nearby, a few rabbits hopped over before crouching beside the bank to drink.
Lucille smiled at the sight of the calm scene. The rabbit in her arms squirmed, wanting its freedom back. She gently put it down. The fluffy bunny nudged her arm before joining her friends at the bank.
As if she thought of something, she glanced toward the direction of the cottages. Half obscured by the trees at the border, she saw the vegetable garden behind the second cabin.
"Brother Ash, what did you guys plant? In the vegetable garden, I mean."
Ashrik followed her gaze, going beyond the forest's edge. He replied, "Carrots, cabbage, lettuce and onions. Beans and cucumbers too. And a few others."
"Everything ripens faster and tastes fresher, right?" Lucille grinned, looking at him. "I can tell from the food you've made."
