The bone-chilling noise outside grew louder. Raw, desperate screams rang through the streets beyond the neighborhood. At the same time, the hammering from the washroom on the second floor continued.

Lucille pressed her palm to her chest, taking a shaky breath. She told herself to focus. Now that she was done locking every window and pulling every curtain, she needed to start packing.
'What should I get? Oh!'
Lucille swung open her closet, grabbing a set of clothes, her windbreaker, a towel, socks, sanitary pads and even a phone charger. She put everything inside the biggest backpack she had in the room.
