Chapter 63 - Feels Like a Betrayal

[Present time, Ashrik's space]

The breeze howled gently outside the windows, but to Lucille, it was so silent and so still that she could almost hear her wild heartbeat. Her mind filtered out the low barking of Dobby and Ponyo outside the room.

Lucille sat by the edge of the bed, her fingers still clutching the pink box. She had been sitting in silence for a while now.

As she bit her trembling lip, she brushed a finger on her parents' wedding rings. A stifling stillness pressed against her the longer she looked at the little items stored in it.

The memories slipped in like shadows through cracks in a wall, reminding her of what she had lost four years ago. All because of the damn emergence of zombies, and the evil hands behind it.

That morning, bright sunlight had filtered through the curtains at home. Her mother's laughter as she reminded her to run an errand at the grocery store, and her father, who slept in due to work, she remembered it all.
