Ashrik leaned slightly on his right foot as he added tomato cubes, garlic and ginger into the pot. As they touched the heated oil, the combination let out a gentle hiss.
Then, Ashrik poured in some water before adding red pepper, rock sugar, salt and black pepper. He let the mixture cook under medium heat. After a few minutes, he added the chicken stock.
Ashrik was busy cleaning his workspace as he waited for the stew to boil. He had always cleaned as he cooked, unwilling to waste time.
Once the stew was brought to a boil, he quickly lowered the heat. What followed next was the steamed sliced potatoes. The fish and prawns could wait until later, now sitting inside a container.
The stew simmered steadily, soft bubbles rising to the surface as the pot remained on the stove. The rich scent of herbs, ginger and spices filled the kitchen.
