Halfway through grilling the meat, Isaac stepped away to build a fire pit in the yard. It glowed softly, its ember painting the night in hues of crimson and gold.
Then, everyone gathered at the wooden table, enjoying what the feast had to offer. Laughter ran unrestrained as Hazel bantered with Felix, and then Regina teamed up with the healer to tease Isaac.
As hours passed, the smoke from the fire pit and the griller drifted lazily toward the sky full of stars, curling through the air before fading. The smell of grilled meat lingered.
Isaac leaned back on his hands, drawing a satisfied grin on his face. "I told you the meat I grilled was the best. Juicy, not overly charred at all."
Felix clicked his tongue. "Brother Mu, stop daydreaming. You nearly burned some."
"Woof! Woof!"
"See?" Felix cackled, excitedly pointing at the dogs. "Even Dobby and Ponyo agree!"
"Woof! Woof!"
