As Ashrik had almost reached the living area, he sensed the familiar pulse of Regina's energy as she formed a barrier in the surroundings. It was steady and protective enough to block any stray wave that might have reached them.
As if noticing him, she retracted the shield. He landed in the yard, and his boots touched the ground with a soft thud. The spiral of wind dispersed as he rescinded his power.
"Woof! Woof!"
Dobby and Ponyo were the first to greet Ashrik. Both dogs shot up from their spot on the front porch deck, tails wagging as they barked eagerly.
Behind them, Lucille, Regina and Hazel appeared in the doorway of his cottage. All three had similar worry etched across their faces.
"Captain!" Regina called, relief flooding her voice. "You're back. We still felt the shockwaves earlier, but very faintly. Not even strong enough to shake the tree ah."
