Chapter 43 - Just You And Me

"...Total orders: 50. Items sold: 66. Revenue: 730 yuan. Cost of goods sold: 450 yuan."

Li Jun swiped to another screen.

"Cash on hand: 4,698 yuan. Remaining inventory valued at 573 yuan at cost."

He set his phone down.

"We also did a restock worth 3,500 yuan. That brings our cash down to 1,198 yuan, and our inventory is now valued at 4,073 yuan."

He looked around at the others.

"This should be enough to last us through Golden Week, right?"

Lin Feng nodded.

Though to be honest, we might fall a little short.

He had originally wanted to spend around 4,000 yuan on restocking. But spending all their business money didn't sit right with him either.

This should do for now.

At that moment, his phone buzzed with a notification.

He glanced at it. An order had come in.

It was still far from when his delivery window opened - just a pre-order. No need to fulfill it yet.

He dismissed the notification and looked back at the others.

"Alright, meeting adjourned."

...

The roommates dispersed to do their own things.

Chen Ming grabbed his bag and headed out - probably to handle some marketing tasks. Li Jun settled at the study desk with his textbooks. Zhang Wei sat hunched over his laptop, fingers flying across the keyboard. Most likely working on the new app.

Lin Feng opened his own laptop and began doing some research, occasionally jotting down notes.

Time passed quietly.

When his delivery window arrived, Lin Feng gathered the orders and headed out. The deliveries went smoothly, one after another.

...

Around noon, while Chen Ming was out handling his own deliveries, Lin Feng, Li Jun, and Zhang Wei gathered around a laptop screen.

The National Day parade replay was playing.

They watched the military formations march across the screen, the tanks rolling past, the fighter jets soaring overhead in perfect formation.

"The formation is really clean this year," Li Jun commented.

Zhang Wei nodded in agreement.

When the replay ended, they immediately transitioned into their daily coding lesson. Zhang Wei guided them through new concepts while Lin Feng and Li Jun followed along on their laptops.

An hour passed quickly.

...

Around 5 PM, Lin Feng stood at the dorm room entrance, staring at his phone.

Just like yesterday, there would be no teaching today. He sighed and checked the other messages.

Three messages sat on his screen.

Su Yue: Thank you for yesterday! I had a lot of fun. By the way, do you want to watch the moon together tonight? I know a good spot.

Xiaoxiao: Hi Lin Feng! I'm making mooncakes for our class. Would you be able to help me out?

Teacher Liu: I wanted to thank you again for last night. If you're free, I'd like to treat you to dinner at my place.

Lin Feng stared at the three messages.

"Mmh, this is troublesome."

Lin Feng stared at the three messages for a long moment.

Then he began typing.

To Su Yue, he wrote: "Sorry, I have work tonight and won't be able to watch the moon with you. How about I make it up to you by treating you to dinner this weekend?"

To Xiaoxiao, he wrote: "I'm really sorry, but I won't be available. The business is really busy right now and I have to manage everything. I'll definitely make it up to you somehow."

As for Teacher Liu...

He typed: "There's something I wanted to talk to you about. How about we meet at the hospital I took you to earlier?"

He sent all three messages.

Teacher Liu's reply came almost instantly.

Teacher Liu: Is there any particular reason?

Lin Feng: I want to check if there are any long-lasting side effects that weren't noticed yesterday.

Teacher Liu: Oki.

At that moment, another notification popped up.

Xiaoxiao: It's okay! Don't worry about it. Focus on your business~

Lin Feng felt a pang of guilt. He really should make it up to the class monitor somehow.

Then another message arrived.

Su Yue: Deal.

He smiled.

He was about to put his phone away when he remembered something. He quickly texted Teacher Liu again.

Lin Feng: Want to meet up now?

Teacher Liu: Right now?

Lin Feng: I don't want to be late again and have to sleep outside.

Teacher Liu: I'm so sorry about that...

Lin Feng: It's not your fault. Don't worry about it.

Teacher Liu: I'll be there.

...

Lin Feng arrived at the hospital entrance.

Liu Mei was already standing there, waiting for him.

"Did I keep you waiting?" he asked as he approached.

She shook her head. "No, I just got here."

The two of them walked inside together. Liu Mei registered at the front desk and was called in for a checkup shortly after. Lin Feng waited in the lobby, scrolling through his phone to pass the time.

About twenty minutes later, she emerged from the examination room and made her way back to where he was sitting.

He stood up.

"How was it?" he asked.

"They said everything was fine," she said.

"That's great to hear."

He turned and started walking toward the exit.

Liu Mei watched his back for a moment. He really was quite caring, wasn't he?

"Aren't you coming?" he called out without looking back.

She hurried to catch up.

As they walked side by side, she glanced at him.

"What did you want to talk to me about?" she asked.

He waved his hand dismissively. "Nothing much, really. I was mostly worried and wanted to check up on you."

She smiled softly.

"Thank you," she said.

...

Outside the hospital, Lin Feng raised his hand and flagged down a passing taxi.

The car pulled up. He opened the door and gestured for her to get in first, then climbed in after her.

The driver glanced at them through the rearview mirror. "Where to?"

Lin Feng turned to Liu Mei. "Where's a good place to eat around here?"

She blinked. "Eat?"

"Didn't you invite me to dinner?" he asked.

"Oh." She nodded slowly. "Right."
