Chapter 60 - Talent [PART 1]

Su Yue observed him quietly.

His expression was calm and sincere.

She slowly nodded.

"Alright."

At that moment, a shadow fell over the table.

The two of them slowly looked up.

Sun Xiao stood before them.

She wore huge round glasses and held a book pressed against her chest. Her expression carried a smile - but it wasn't exactly friendly.

"Class monitor?" Su Yue called out hesitantly.

Sun Xiao said nothing.

She simply raised a finger and pointed to the side.

The two followed her gesture.

A sign hung on the nearby pillar.

No Noise.

Lin Feng smiled and rose from his seat. He took Su Yue by the hand and gave Sun Xiao a polite bow before leading Su Yue away.

Sun Xiao watched them disappear around the corner.

Then she glanced at the table.

Their books were still there.

She sighed and began gathering them up.

...

Out in the corridor, the two walked side by side.

Su Yue's gaze drifted downward - to her hand, still held in Lin Feng's grip.

She looked up at him.

At that exact moment, he turned to glance at her.

Their eyes met.

She quickly looked away, her cheeks warming.

"Are you free this weekend?" he asked.

She blinked. "Huh?"

"KTV," he said. "Want to go?"

She turned to look at him again.

His expression was serious. Unreadable.

I really can't understand you.

Saturday, October 17th.

The KTV room was dimly lit, with colorful lights bouncing off the walls. A large screen dominated one side, while plush couches lined the other.

Su Yue settled into her seat as a waiter delivered their drinks.

"I didn't expect you to like this kind of stuff," she said, glancing around the room.

But Lin Feng wasn't paying attention to the atmosphere.

He pulled out a notebook and flipped to a blank page.

Su Yue blinked.

He looked up at her, pen in hand.

"Sing."

"...Huh?"

His expression was completely serious.

She stared at him for a long moment, waiting for an explanation that never came.

Finally, she sighed and stood up.

Fine.

She picked up the microphone and scrolled through the song list. After selecting one, she took a breath and began.

"...~Unless I meet a squirrel on Huanghe Road~..."

Her voice filled the small room, soft but clear.

Lin Feng watched her intently, scribbling something in his notebook.

She glanced at him mid-verse, curiosity flickering in her eyes.

What is he doing?

Well, she hadn't been to KTV in a while. Might as well enjoy herself.

"...~The first step after abandoning my plans is to enjoy the sunrise~..."

She let herself get lost in the melody, but she could feel his gaze on her.

It made her self-conscious.

When the verse ended, Lin Feng spoke up.

"Can you dance too?"

She paused.

Dance?

She looked at him. Then at the notebook. Then back at him.

She gave up trying to understand.

"...Sure."

She selected an upbeat song and let her body move with the rhythm. Nothing fancy - just the kind of casual dancing you'd do with friends at KTV.

Lin Feng continued writing, occasionally nodding to himself.

The song ended.

[Score: 87]

Su Yue looked at the screen.

Looks like I'm a little rusty.

She set down the microphone and walked over to Lin Feng, dropping onto the couch beside him.

"Now you tell me what you're up to."

She pointed at the notebook.

"What is all this for?"

Lin Feng turned the notebook toward her.

She read the words on the page.

"Singing - Dancing - Cosplay"

She looked at it.

Then back at him.

"What is this supposed to mean?"

"It's your niche," he said simply.

"Niche?"

"Yeah." He leaned back. "In livestreaming, you need a niche. Something that defines your content and attracts a specific audience."

He gestured with his pen.

"Currently, the popular ones are mukbang, chatting streams, gaming, ASMR, talent shows... things like that."

He met her eyes.

"But I don't think any of those fit you."

She tilted her head, waiting for him to continue.

"After watching you sing and dance just now - your dancing is solid. And honestly, it doesn't even matter that much since you're already cute."

She opened her mouth to protest but he kept going.

"You just need to sing. The dancing is a bonus. And with those two together, you could branch out into cosplay."

He nodded to himself.

"Dancing in cosplay would definitely attract some goon… ahem, I mean fans."

Su Yue stared at him.

"So you're saying... I should livestream myself singing and dancing in strange outfits?"

Lin Feng nodded.

"Here's how I think it should work."

He flipped to another page, sketching out a rough diagram.

"Mostly, you'd stream yourself singing popular songs. Viewers can request songs, and you queue them up and sing through the list."

He drew an arrow.

"For dancing, you set donation goals. Hit the goal, you dance."

Another arrow.

"As for cosplay - that wouldn't be a goal for the whole audience. Instead, it's a single large donation. Someone pays the set amount, they get to pick an outfit. You put it on and dance."

He set the pen down.

"That's the basic structure."

Su Yue was silent for a moment.

"You've really thought this out."

Lin Feng waved his hand dismissively. "It's just so-so."

She looked at him with a suspicious gaze.

"Anyway," he said, "what do you think about this arrangement?"

She looked down at the notebook again.

"I... don't have any experience with this sort of thing," she admitted. "But you seem to know what you're doing." She sighed. "I suppose I should listen to you."

Lin Feng nodded.

"Have you ever taken singing lessons?"

She shook her head. "No. But I used to do this a lot with friends back in high school. We'd come to KTV almost every week."

Lin Feng nodded again, his expression thoughtful.

To be honest, I hadn't expected her to be this good.

She was rusty, sure. But the foundation was there. With some practice, she wouldn't reach idol level - but she could approach it.

Maybe then she could even do covers of popular songs. That could explode her popularity. And from there, she might even open up a path toward...
