Chapter 89 - Water Army

About an hour later.

"...and that's how you handle polymorphism with virtual destructors. If you forget the virtual keyword on the base class destructor, you'll end up with undefined behavior when deleting through a base pointer."

Zhang Wei leaned back and checked the time.

"That will be all for today."

He closed his laptop halfway and looked at the two of them.

"To be honest, you two surprised me. It's only been a week and you're already progressing this much."

He scratched his chin.

"It's somewhat understandable given your previous Python knowledge and the fundamental principles I taught you early on. But still."

He paused.

"That being said, you both have some areas to work on."

He turned to Li Jun.

"For you, it's memory management. That's where you're weakest. If it gives you too much trouble, you could try a memory-safe language like Rust."

He shrugged.

"But to be honest, I'm not a fan of it."

Then he turned to Lin Feng.

"As for you - you seem to struggle the most with templates. While it's not a big deal, and I personally don't use them much, it's still a good thing to learn."

He leaned back.

"That's about it. These things are just a lack of experience. I can teach you concepts, but I can't give you experience. You need to work on your own projects for that."

He waved his hand.

"They don't need to be anything big. Just small projects here and there."

Suddenly, he held up a finger, a bright smile crossing his face.

"Actually - there are some great open-source projects out there that people rely on but have little to no maintainers. You could try contributing to some every now and then if you don't have ideas for your own projects."

He nodded to himself.

"It's a good learning experience and also supports the community."

The two nodded.

"Well, let's talk about it next time." Zhang Wei stood up and began packing his things. "My exam is starting soon."

He slung his bag over his shoulder and headed out.

The two of them were left sitting side by side.

Lin Feng turned to Li Jun.

"So... do you have a project you're working on?"

"Well, yeah," Li Jun replied. "But it's just small things."

Lin Feng tilted his head.

"You said you wanted to make a game, right? What kind of game is it?"

He leaned back.

"Why don't you get started on it? It could be a good long-term project."

Li Jun scratched his cheek.

"Actually... I have no idea what game I want to make. I just think game development is interesting."

He paused.

"But maybe I really should think about what game I want to make."

Lin Feng looked at him.

"If you don't have a game in mind, why not make a game engine first? When the game finally comes to mind, you'll already be about halfway there."

He shrugged.

"Well... depending on the game."

Li Jun's eyes widened.

"Ah…that's actually not a bad idea."

"Say..."

Lin Feng's voice suddenly shifted.

"Wanna make a game company with me?"

His money was increasing greatly every day. Maybe it was about time he expanded into another industry.

"What?"

Li Jun stared at him in shock.

At that moment, Lin Feng's phone let out a notification sound.

"Ah, sorry."

He glanced at the screen and stood up.

"We can talk about this later."

With that, he left.

Li Jun sat there, still processing what had just happened.

A game company...?

Lin Feng stood outside the Market Supervision Administration office.

He looked at the papers in his hands.

Finally.

Xingyao Entertainment's registration was complete.

Now he just needed the seals and a bank account. He didn't have to worry about the bank - Manager Chen could take care of that. As for the seals, one to two days would be fine.

A few minutes later, Lin Feng sat in his office.

He had just finished submitting his details for the seal to be made and was told to wait for their message.

He opened up his laptop and navigated to a website.

Then he exhaled.

I need to do this before I forget.

He was supposed to do this yesterday, but it had gotten too late and he decided to push it to today.

He looked at the tiers for the water army.

First was the Entry Tier.

This was more of a quantity-based army. It just copy-pasted a set of messages to troll. A message was worth ¥0.5.

But this wasn't what he was looking for.

Above that was the Standard Tier, which focused on quality. This one had verified accounts, geographic targeting, and specialized vocabulary.

¥5 per message.

Above that was the Premium Tier.

¥10 per message.

It had all the benefits of the previous tier with the added advantage that it didn't just leave a message - it would interact with the post as well as other users for nuanced engagement.

He decided to go with this.

Even though it was slightly expensive, it was still doable. Besides, genuine-looking engagement was worth the cost.

Apart from this, he also hired five soldiers from the media category to handle uploading. These ones cost ¥100 each.

He sent them the clip.

Shortly after, he received the links to the uploads across multiple platforms.

Then he took out ¥5,000, spending it all on the Premium Tier army.

With that ¥5,000, he was getting 500 users.

He sent them the links. Their job would be to interact with the posts.

Although they were fewer than he had expected, he felt it was fine. These were more genuine-looking than normal bots that might put off real users.

With them interacting with the pages, it would quickly lead to gaining engagement. The algorithm would then push the posts to real users, who would engage with the post and push it even more.

With that, the first step of the plan was complete.

At that moment, a knock came from the door.

Lin Feng looked up.

He closed the page and leaned back in his chair.

"Come in."

The door opened.

Yu Shen walked in.
