Asher walked through the hallway toward his office, coffee in hand, reviewing his schedule for the day.
He didn't notice the way conversations stopped as he passed.
Didn't see the looks exchanged between coworkers.
Didn't hear the whispers that started up again once he was out of earshot.
Not yet.
Two Hours Earlier. Company Break Room.
"Did you hear?" Sarah from accounting leaned in conspiratorially to the small group gathered around the coffee maker.
"Hear what?" Michael from marketing asked.
"About Asher Quinn-Park. And Mr. Everhart."
"What about them?"
Sarah lowered her voice even further. "Apparently, Asher trapped him. With those children."
"What do you mean 'trapped him'?"
