Chapter 52 - chapter 52: Damien

Kael sat at his dining table, phone to his ear.

"I want full-time bodyguards for Asher. Starting today. Two shifts, round the clock. Nobody gets near him without my knowledge."

"Understood, Mr. Everhart," Marcus said. "I'll have a team assembled by noon."

"Good. And I want surveillance cameras on the apartment building. Every entrance, every exit. I want to know if Damian Cross comes within a hundred meters of that building."

"Already on it."

"One more thing. I want a security detail at the twins' school. Plainclothes. I don't want them scared."

After he hung up, Kael found Asher in the kitchen, making breakfast for the twins. Still in his pajamas. Dark circles under his eyes from another sleepless night.

The gift boxes were lined up on the counter—flowers, jewelry, clothes—all carefully documented and bagged for the police.

"Security team arrives at noon," Kael said quietly.

Asher didn't look up from the pan. "Okay."

"Asher—"

"I said okay, Kael."
