Chapter 1 - The Beginning Of It All

Rumble

Boom

A loud bang tore through the sky as thunder rumbled.

Zyrus raised his head, as he looked at the sky.

It was strange, to say the least. Just a few minutes ago, the sky was clear as glass, drowned in the beautiful mirage of orange and red.

But looking at it now, it was gloomy.

Black mist like clouds covered the whole sky, shading the whole area in soft darkness, if not for the glow of street lights keeping it at bay.

In the clouds, thunder rumbled loud and wild, as lightning phased through them, creating multiple shining streaks of white and once in a while purple?

While the winds that once seemed gentle and serene, now hit his face harsh and relentless.

"Guess, it's gonna rain harsh tonight, huh." Zyrus said, as he quietly quickened his pace towards his home.

A low sigh escaped from his weary lips, as the cold wind bit through his face, making his black hair flutter in the air, and showing his red eyes.

One might say that his face was top notch, if not for the harsh dark circles and a tired melancholic look on his face.

Right now, he was returning from his parents grave. A stark reminder of how truly alone he was in this world.

Yes, he was an orphan.

His parents had died when he was ten.

Leaving him alone in this world, just when he was stepping into his teens with only his caretaker, who also disappeared somewhere when he was twelve.

Thus beginning his true agony, as the weight of it all crashed down on him. He was on his own, lonely and broken with only a laughable amount of cash on his side.

And now at the age of sixteen, after four years of hard work and pain he had...practically nothing much to be honest, not even for his university fees when he grows up and apply for them in the future.

The only thing that kept him alive was his multiple part-time jobs, which for the amount of work he does only pays on pennies.

Why?

Because they know that there aren't many jobs for teenagers like him, so he doesn't have any other options even if he resigned from them.

Thus making them arrogant.

"Haa, I am tired." He said once again, sighing for what looked like the umpeenth time.

However, just as he took another step.

Step

Goosebumps.

Pure, raw goosebumps ran through his whole being, in the next instant a slight crawling sensation hit him, making him stop in his tracks.

His eyes widened.

'What the hell?' He thought.

Looking around, he saw other people also stopping and simultaneously looking up at the sky.

Following the lead he also raised his head, and what he witnessed made his heart skip a beat.

Amethyst and Azure.

Gone were the black clouds that draped the world in darkness.

Now, the whole world was drowned in the blanket of swirling amethyst and azure, with millions of stars and different constellations being clearly visible creating an unbelievable visage.

A thing that shouldn't be possible with all the light and air pollution around the city.

Everyone took out their phones and cameras as they started clicking pictures of the beautiful portrait painted on the canvas called sky.

It was mesmerizing, it was gorgeous…for everyone except Zyrus.

As he looked at the sky, a horrible foreboding hit his heart. Something was wrong or something wrong was going to happen.

It was a feeling that came from his whole inner being.

And yet he couldn't tear his gaze away from the sky. Though in the next moment he was compelled to look away as a slight sound reached his ears.

Quickly, he looked at the ground.

Shirng Shirng

"Wh-what?" He stuttered, as his mind went blank momentarily. His heart almost jumped out of his chest.

On the ground around him.

A glowing circle of white and purple was manifesting.

In the circle multitude of shapes like pentagons and decagons swirled around it, creating a bizarre and uncomprehending tapestry that made Zyrus mind stop for a moment.

He instinctively moved or at least tried to, however he couldn't budge even an inch, he tried to shout however even that was impossible as he could not control his body now.

Then, a translucent screen of blue and gold materialized in front of him.

'What?' Zyrus's frowned deeply as he read the text.

Badump

Then, suddenly his heart lurched, as his vision trembled and the world around him blurred.

Pain

A pain so feral and raw, that he couldn't even imagine, tore through his whole body like a dam.

'Ahhhhh.' He screamed yet no voice came out, he roared and convulsed in pain and yet again...nothing came out.

No one even noticed him like that. Everyone was just too entranced by the mystique skies, almost like as if they all were in hypnosis, transfixed on the sky.

'Fuc-' Zyrus couldn't even thought a coherent word as the pain assaulted him, he felt like as if some being was tearing his soul apart from his body.

The circle around him, flared with even greater lights and sound with such intensity that it almost created a blurry image.

"Kyaaa."

Zyrus's was on the verge of losing his consciousness, when a loud scream reached his assualted ears, he obviously couldn't move but the sound seems to come from his front.

"M-move awa- huh." A panicked voice entered his ears but then it suddenly stopped as if astounded and shocked by something.

He had somehow wished that person would see him and do something but..alas it seemed that the heavens were hell bent on giving him agony.

Zyrus with a great effort somehow opened his eyes, to atleast gesture in someway.

However, all he saw was a silhouette of a girl who was on roller skates seemingly without any balance moving towards him with a great speed, all while shouting and flapping her hands up and down.

At the same time, the skies above also shuddered loudly, as if done with what they were preparing. With a loud crackle they rained down.

A bolt of searing purple lightning, fell on him or rather on the whole magic circle. Unceremoniously just when the bolt was an inch above his head, a weight crashed into him.

Then it all turned black.

Boooooommmm.

******

The lightning bolt fell on the two individuals standing in the road, for a moment all the people were frozen as if suddenly free from some spell, then.

"Kyaaaa."

"Wha-what."

Screams and shrills tore through them, as they panicked and ran like sheeps when they see a wolf.

However beyond of all, a monotone voice rang somewhere.
