Chapter 2 - Scarlet

[Third Person POV]

Heading to the training grounds, Riser was thinking back on the choice he had made.

The first thing he planned to buy from the Tear System was a servant. Riser needed to prove to his mother he wasn't lying, so he could earn a steady stream of points, allowing him to grow stronger, even when he couldn't make tears himself.

It wasn't that she wouldn't give him tears; she just needed a reason to justify giving him so many.

Summoning had no risks, since each person he summoned with it would be completely loyal to him.

Their personality would stay the same, so Danzo would still plot to strengthen himself by any means necessary, Champ would still be a pedophile, and All for One would still desire to be a demon lord; however, if he ordered any of them to do something, even if they didn't want to, they'd listen.

Obviously, he would never summon any of those people. Even with the knowledge that his commands would completely control them, he wouldn't dare waste points summoning them.

Not because they were villains or psychopaths or anything, but because he'd want to kill them, which would be a waste of points.

Instead, he planned on summoning someone likable.

There were dozens of protagonists and their friends and allies, some he could afford and others he couldn't.

Being realistic, though, most of them he'd probably only summon years down the line when he got bored and wanted to see some personalities clash.

Riser knew that there were several characters he could summon with strong potential; however, this was DxD, and Riser knew what he wanted.

Why would he spend his points to summon a guy, when there were women just as strong he could choose instead?

If he wanted the powers a male character had, he'd buy that and keep it for himself or a female summon. Powers were cheaper than summons since they required someone to use them.

For options, Riser had a plethora of female summons to choose from.

Though he wanted many of them, his points limited many, and the lack of combat abilities further dwindled his choices.

In the end, he decided to pick Erza Scarlet as his first summon, spending 950 of his 1031 points. Riser also left some markers on Azula, Pyrrha Nikos, Kaina Tsutsumi, and several dozen other characters as future summoning candidates.

As he arrived at the training grounds, he walked past the resting benches and practice equipment, heading straight for the center of the room.

The field itself resembled the gym arenas in Pokémon—a flat dirt patch, with boundaries marking the edge.

Mentally pressing the summon button, the system screen glowed a dim blue before the light left the system and coalesced in front of Riser.

The light slowly took shape, growing increasingly more like Erza.

First, it expanded, taking the shape of a human, like the vague blobs people draw to represent humans.

Next, the body reshaped itself, altering minor details specific to Erza. Light flowed from the head, forming what would be Erza's long, red hair, while the chest and hips expanded to fit her size, even getting as detailed as to show nipples. Unfortunately for Riser, they didn't show anything other than two glowing nubs, not that he could feel horny thanks to his age.

Then the light that made up the torso, arms, and legs expanded further. This time, the light's shape made it clear these were clothes, as two little wing shapes stuck off her elbows, and the area around her hips formed the shape of a skirt. Her torso, on the other hand, expanded, taking on a stiffer shape than before.

Finally, the light dissipated after a scene that resembled a Pokémon evolving.

Standing a few feet in front of Riser was Erza Scarlet. Red hair cascaded down the length of her back. Details that were missed in the light, like her diamond-shaped earrings, were now clearly visible.

Her closed eyes slowly opened on a new world, immediately locking onto the only person in the vicinity.

"So you're Riser Phenex, my new master?" Erza briefly commented before she knelt on the ground, one leg against the ground, the other holding her body up; her sword embedded into the ground next to her.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Master Riser. I hope my blade is sharp enough to protect you."

Having Erza pledge herself to him as his knight came as a shock, but Riser quickly rebounded, knowing she usually had a serious personality.

"Stand, Erza," Riser commanded, mentally cringing at the exaggerated nobility he could feel himself injecting into his words. Despite having several years' worth of memories as a noble, even if only as a kid, he still felt like he was only pretending. "Since you have pledged yourself to me, I want you to act as you usually would. If you need to refer to me, feel free to call me Riser in private."

"Yes, sir!" Erza said boisterously as she stood up from her kneeling position.

"So, Riser, is there anything you need me to do right now?" Erza asked.

As she stood up, Riser got a second look at her. Her familiar Heart Kreuz chestplate and gauntlets, blue skirt, and black boots. Erza's brown eyes stared at him, waiting for him to give her an order.

Riser was starting to feel embarrassed, but he composed himself, coughing into his hand.

"Ehem, right. First, how about we spar? I know you're strong, but I don't know how much it translates to this world. Don't worry about injuring me. My clan has a strong regeneration magic and healing items, so I'll be fine. I won't be the best measure of strength, but if you're stronger than me, it'll put you at a good starting point."

"Right. Do you wish to grab a weapon, Riser?"

"No need. I don't have the skills for that yet, just some ranged magic."

"Okay then. Whenever you're ready, Riser," Erza said, lifting her sword in preparation.

Author's Note:

Don't worry about Riser abusing summoning to create an army. While he can summon as many as he wants, because of peerage limits, he won't summon more than he can reincarnate (until one of them reaches high-class and gets a peerage themself or he 'cheats' with the system, which he will do eventually).

Beyond that, it makes more sense to buy items that strengthen his peerage, such as more armor and weapons for Erza. Too many people would grab attention without him being able to explain their origin.

Also, the Erza he summoned is from the start of canon. So she hasn't dealt with Eisenwald or the Tower of Heaven.
