While Simon was approaching the Basilisk's eyes, there were changes that occurred to his physical body, and the Grave Lord saw everything.
The major change that occurred to Simon's physical body was his blood.
His blood was previously red, causing the mist that was being absorbed by the central pillar to be blood-red.
But now, his blood had faint traces of an indigo hue to it.
At first, the indigo colour was very faint and it seemed like it would vanish, but then it deepened and it looked like Simon's blood was going to change from a red colour to an indigo colour.
The Grave Lord was extremely baffled for several reasons.
The first and most important one was that the colour of the Devourer's bloodline was not Indigo but black. He was 100% certain of this, so why had no black blood being extracted from Simon's body?
The second thing that baffled him was that his bloodline felt threatened by the the indigo blood he was staring at.
