"No wonder it's so gaping empty here, the tables and chairs are all covered in dust."

Alex forced himself not to think about money matters anymore; he swept his eyes around the vast office located in a hidden corner of the Patrol Police Department:

"But normally you guys don't stay here either, right? This place looks more like a warehouse for discarded items than an office for a special department."

The room was spacious but lacked human warmth; stacks of old files shoved into the corners of the walls had turned yellow and stained, and spiderwebs hung in places where the light of the oil lamps did not reach. It was clear that people from other Churches were not very keen on sitting here; they viewed this as a mandatory obligation rather than a responsibility.
